Duchesne girl is The State Road Commission of Utah opened bids today for the stabilization of the east end of Starvation Bridge on US-4near Duchesne. The bid calls for 39,000 cubic yards of loose rock which will be placed on the face of the slope supporting the east bridge abutment. This will act as a rock layer, called rip-rabuttress against the slope and should prevent any further slippage. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has agreed to gradually lower the level of the reservoir to permit the contractor to place the rock. The reservoir will only be feet by September lowered twenty-fou- r 1, and, according to Bureau of Reclamation Regional Director David L. Crandall this lower level will not interfere with summer agricultural and recreational needs. The apparent low bidder on the project was Peter Kiewit Sons of Murray, Utah, who submitted a bid of $264,714. The official engineer's estimate for the work was $395,280.
