Show Moy 30. 1974 STANDARD Big game board meetings are planned The Board of Big Garni Control has set their six public meetings throughout the state for the last part of June. The Board, which sets seasons, rules and regulations for big game hunts in Utah, will hear public recommendations at the meetings. Additionally, recom NOTICE OF mendations based on biological data compiled hy Division of Wildlife Resources, Bureau of Land Management and U. S. Forest Service field men will be presented. This year's meetings are scheduled for: Friday, June 21, Ogden; Monday, June 24, Beaver; Tuesday, June 25, Richfield; Wednesday, June 26, Price; Thursday, June 27, Vernal; and Friday, June 28, Salt Lake City. Times and locations of meetings will be announced later. The Division strongly urges sportsmen to participate in the meetings. There, they will not only be able to express their views, but also will hear biological reports on conditions of game herds and their ranges. Basin miss to serve on college executive council Congratulations go out to Paula Nelson, a new member of the Dixie College Executive Council. Paula is the daughter of Donna Rae and Dale Nelson of Roosevelt and will be serving as publicity manager for the 1974-7school year at Dixie College in St. George. Paula has been involved in LDSSA, 5 served as the LDS Sunday school secretary, student affairs committee Activities Committee, member, Fresh Assembly Chairman, Speech and Forensics Vice President and has participated in many other activities and assemblies. Paula was selected for this job after various interviews with people she associated with throughout the year, as well as a personal interview. There are eight members of Dixie's new Executive Council coming from different areas in the state. Paula say's she has really enjoyed her freshman year at Dixie and is looking forward to a new year. The workshop will be of interest to educators, counselors and others in the Helping Professions governmental leaders, employers, parents-anyo- ne wishing to learn skills which will help him communicate and deal more effectively with others. Workshop leaders will be Stan Allen and Dr. S. Burt Chamberlain. Dr. Chamberlain is a licensed marriage and family counselor and educator. He represents Effectiveness Training Associates of Utah with offices in Salt Lake. He has conducted training classes for parents, educators and employers in Utah and Arizona since 1965. Mr. Allen is a school administrator in the Uintah School District He has conducted numerous Effectiveness Training Programs for teachers and parents in his district. These programs have been enthusiastically received by those who have enrolled. Based on Communication The workshop is based upon the communications model developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon, author of Parent Effectiveness Training and Group Centered Leadership. The Uintah Basin Workshop is a speEfcially abbreviated form of a fectiveness Training course which will be customized to meet the needs of participants. The workshop will provide an overview of the Effectiveness Training communication model and teach as many of the specific skills as time will allow. A new skill that will increase their effectiveness in counseling children and others with personal, educational or employment problems. A new method for resolving conflict between individuals that is far more effective than using authority or power, yet is not permissive. The skills to implement a philosophy of human relationships that will foster the mental health of themselves and their children, students, employees and clients, and permit both to grow and actualize themselves.
