Ferguson On June 24th and 25th a record, crowd of nearly 13,000 Utah women met at the International Women's Year convention in Salt Lake City. The big surprise was that the overwhelming majority of the' women were strongly opposed to those very .things the I.W.Y. crowd is trying to promote. It is no secret that the LW.Y. commission, funded with five million dollars of federal money, was created for the express purpose of furthering the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. The overwhelming majority of the women appointed by President Carter to positions on the commission have been The deck has been stacked in favor of crotfd right from the start. But the good the women of Utah decided to turn the tables on the women libbers. When it became known that the convention was to be held, numbers of conservative Utah women went to work organizing their friends for the meeting. The Utah Independent ran articles on this issue and urged conservative women to attend. Also, the Church of Jesus Saints (Mormon) requested that five Christ of Latter-da- y women from each ward attend the conference. The response from all of these combined activities proved to be overwhelming. NO HUMAN RIGHTS UNDER COMMUNISM THE WILL OF A HANDFULL ' By Tlfomas O. Breitling On Wednesday, June 29, 1977 Lewis Uoyd, who has spent much of his life on the public payroll, made two important telephone calls before retirement ends his career as an appointed Utah state employee. One call was to Calvin L. Rampton and the other to John W. Gallivan. These three men have been closely related for many years in what to'them is more important than' any other political prize in Utah the total annexation of all of Salt Lake County into Salt Lake City, and the consequent destruction and obliteration of Salt Lake County government. -- REMOVE DUPLICATION AND DOUBLE TAXATION The above named individuals along with David W. Many other dividuals have always been at the beck and call of these four as a group or any of them individually. Over the past several years it was sometimes hard to know that Rampton was a- dedicated Metrocrat, but a recent letter to the Deseret News smoked (pardon the expression) him out. He wrote a letter of his own to that newspaper declaring his allegiance to Metrocracy. - To the dedicated Metrocrat there is only one overriding goal: to save the benighted savage (read voter) from duplication of services and double taxation. And there is only one way to do it: Metro. If you suggest to these initiates that duplication and double taxation Can be eliminated by disincorporating Salt Lake Qry or by incorporating or annexing all of urban, unincorporated county, they will assure, you that this cannot possibly solve the problem. They are right, of course, but they are talking about a different To Metrocrats the problem. is that they can't get all of problem the political power in Salt Lake County .jnto one controllable pair of hands. This is so for two reasons: one is there is no Fabian Socialist charter, and the County is . - so-call- divided among ed nine city governments and a separate county government in this, the states most populous county. During the two years since the signing of the countless accords, dissidents have been thrown insane- into asylums, numbers of persons have been denied the right to leave, and untold thousands ' languish in prisons and camps because they disagree with the Communists regime. The Soviets have a new constitution which does indeed mention human But it the that rights. says exercise of rights and freedoms depends upon and it good behavior, does . not outlaw the psychiatric hospitalization of political dissenters.
