Utah wildlife director leaves post Division of Wildlife Resources reorganized to meet the demands of Interim Director Bob Valentine has modem wildlife management. He decided to step down after three years of service. He will leave this position as of Jan. 1, 1977. Bob did mention to me some months ago that he wanted to leave and now he Fas decided that finishing out this year makes sense says Department of Natural Resources Executive Director Ted Stewart. "The division has benefited greatly from his service, says Stewart When we took over the division he inherited a $3 million budget short- fall and an agency needing to be worked through those very difficult and trying circumstances and then built on toe divisions strengths. He was instrumental in improving the publics perception of toe division and improved officials. I simply cannot say enough about his contributions. Under Valentines leadership, policy making for the division was consolidated under one board and Regional Advisory Councils were created so toe public could be more involved in wildlife policy making at toe local level He has been a leader in toe Book Cliffs initiative and toe acquisition of other substantial wildlife habitat areas in the state. These include 1 1,000 acres donated by Texaco in the Uintah Basin; 3,700 acres of wildlife habitat in Tooele County and 5,000 acres, including significant water rights, from Utah Power and in Emery County. light Many Valentines most of impressive accomplishments have to do with the divisions financial wellbeing. Funding for toe division has increased significantly. New BOUNTIFUL LOCATION 30-1- The Rocks next game would be against the Flagstaff Steelers for the championship.
