Although Bountiful coach Jill Avery lost some key players from a postseason invitations. a rebuilding year. year also brings realignment, meaning the Braves will be playing the best teams in the state. "Realignment will hurt us," admitted Avery. "We are up to a new level of competition. We did so well in 3A, but this year we play teams like Skyline who is definitely the best right now, and Davis will always be real good. But if all our girls show up we can beat the top teams in the state." 5 The Lady Braves begin the regular season Tuesday at home 0 against Highland. On Thursday, 1 Bountiful travels to rival Davis. Q ? the 4A: Woods Cross is the lone Clipper Country squad in 4A ranks. The Lady Wildcats open region play next week. REGION LEADERS: Cottonwood failed on Bountifuls express Thursday. Lady WOODS CROSS: The Lady s Wildcats are another team hurt by S graduation as they lost four key players from a year ago. The Cats will line up with Meridee Nielson, Julie Johanson, Rosemary Bearn- - Bountiful makes the big Jump to the states largest classification this season. The Lady Braves join rivals Davis and Vlewmont in Region 2 with Cottonwood, Highland and Skyline. 5A: son, or Mandy Sellars. However, Woods Cross coach Chris Adams anticipates the Wildcats will be an improved team. "We have a good team so there will be a lot of pressure," said the third year coach. We will be nervous to see how good we can be." While the Lady Cats did lose some talented athletes, they have some young girls who show a lot of promise, and a lot of height. "We have a few girls who go about 5T0" so hopefully we can take advantage of that," said Adams. "We really have good team chemteam play, we istry and hit well, we serve well, and our defense is really good." The realignment will also affect the Wildcats, but in a different way from the other teams in the county. "We will not be able to play Bountiful this year, and that is always a great game, said Adams. That game is when all the fans come out and both teams play their best. I also wish we could play teams like Viewmont and Davis nd because they would be such good rivalries, but I'm sure it will all work out and we will play well. The Lady Wildcats begin their regular season Sept. 21 when they play host East. DAVIS 12, Highland 0 KAYSVILLE The Lady Darts maintained its second-plac- e standing with an easy win over hapless Highland Thursday. Davis cleared its bench in the rout. The Lady Ds, now 1 and in sole possession of second, visit Cottonwood Tuesday before entertaining Skyline Thursday. 3-- Skyline 3, VIEWMONT 2 SALT LAKE CITY The Eagles soared in a shootout Thurs day. Three Skyline players scored in sudden death as Viewmont fell victim to the upset. The Lady Vikes, losers of two straight league games, dropped into a third place tie with Skyline at 2 in Region 2 play. Viewmont will seek to bounce back Tuesday at home against Bountiful. On Thursday, the Lady Vikes travel to Cottonwood. 2-- Region 7 WOODS CROSS 3, East 0 SALT LAKE CITY Goalkeeper Amber Ivie continued her Secretary of Defense act Thursday. The Woods Cross senior registered her third consecutive shutout as the Lady Wildcats edged East New Radiators in a Region 7 catfight.
