Show Thursday, August 18, 1983 The Salma Sun . 5 Middle School Orientations Set Orientation for the opening of the Sevier Middle School this Aug. 25 will be Aug. 22 and 23. North Principal LaMont J. Dansie Jr. said orientation for 5 th graders will be Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon and for the sixth graders, 12:30-3:3- 0 p.m. When school starts on Aug. 25, fifth graders wiU eat lunch from 12:05 until 1 p.m. Lunch tickets can be purchased at the main office. If fifth grade students, their fourth period teacher may issue lunch tickets on a daily basis. These tickets, however, will still need to be paid for at the office. They are $22 Orientation for seventh graders the next day from 9 a.m. to noon and for eighth graders from 0 p.m. will be 2:30-3:3- Students should go to their first period class at 8:45 on the 25th. Their homeroom teachers will give them an orientation to the school and the principal will visit each home room during the first two weeks of school. Students may purchase school insurance, and forms may be picked up at student orientation. per book. School will end at 2:40 p.m. for the fifth graders and at 3:30 p.m. for grades Mr. Dansie said fifth graders will not need to bring gym suits. 6-- Elementary School Starts Aug. 25 By M.D. , $200 to Legion Boy Scout Members of Troop party last Wednesday. Aurora Girl Scouts Enjoy Camp Out Nearly five hundred children are expected August 25 inaugurating our 1983-8- 4 school .year at the elementary. They will join 18 teachers, two custodians, five cooks, three bus drivers, one secretary, one media coordinator, five teacher aids, many parent volunteers and other school personnel. School time schedule will be 9 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. for first and second grades, 9 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. for third and fourth and grades, morning kindergarten from 9 a.m. By Beveriy Farley Aurora Girl Scouts had a fun and exciting day at their first Day Camp held in Aurora. 9 a.m. is too early for some people, but its certainly not too early, for a Gill Scout to be out and busy. During camp registration tne gins entertained themselves by singing some Girl Scout favorites, then it was off to the flag ceremony. Then some members of the American Legion troop taught the girls different skills in individual workshops. Britton Hansen taught the compass; Warren Hansen taught games and firebuilding; Chris Home taught knots; Brad Home taught bandages and splinting with Mark Freeman. After the girls learned the art of fire building they were prepared to fix their own lunch consisting of hot dogs, potato salad, punch and s mores and more smores and probably more smores. The gills survived the lunch and were excited to start the crafts. They learned straw weaving, how to make magic yam ropes, how to make childrens games. They also colored doodle art posters. One of the groups from this area was the Golden Saddle Club led by Johnny Merchant. Jodie Andreason took a white ribbon home in the A group. In the Trail Class, Sheila Rasmussen took a first place trophy and blue ribbon in her class; Tammie Harward won a second rosette blue ribbon. Cody and Cheyenne Merchant won red ribbons and Jennifer and Jodie Andreason won whites. In Pole Bending, Cheyenne and. Cody took whites, the Andreasons took red and Sheila took a red ribbon home.
