Show SALINA, UTAH, THURSDAY, MAY 26,1983 VOLUME 61, NUMBER 21 Utahns Ready for Saturdays Fishing Opener With the fishing opener Saturday, department and sporting goods stores are gearing up tor the traditional last minute crunch as sportsmen rush to buy fishing tackle, camping supplies and, of course, fishing licenses. This year, fishermen will be required to buy a trout stamp in addition to the license if they plan to fish for trout. The stamp should be attached to the license, and must be signed across the front to be valid. Jim Smart, coordinator of license sales for the Division of Wildlife Resources, says the new stamps have been distributed to all wildlife license agents in the state. According to Smart,, there are almost 500 license agents in the state. New businesses that want to become agents are carefully checked by the Division, and must be bonded before they can qualify, he said. In addition to selling hunting and fishing licenses, most agents carry a full array of outdoor gear. Many remain open for extended hours, a real convenience for sportsmen who often do their last minute shopping at 3 a .m. on the way out of town. Utahns are fortunate to have such a comprehensive network of license agents across the state, says Smart. Although licenses may be purchased at all Division of Wildlife Resources offices weekdays ,from 8 to 5, the agents have a real advantage because they offer more hours and days of operation, and As a result of a new law passed by the 1983 State Legislature the theyre usually a lot closer to juvenile court was given a new tool home. to collect unpaid fines and Following is the forecast for the restitution. general fishing season opener for Senate Bill No. 41 added a sub- central and southern Utah as section to the Operators and prepared by the Division of Wildlife Chauffeurs License Act allowing Resources. the State Drivers License Division to ANTIMONY CREEK: Expected to be high on opening weekend with suspend the license of a person who has an unpaid fine or restitution slow fishing.
