The Boys and Girls Athletic Awards Nights saw four major winners: Neresa Nielsen was named the Outstanding Senior Athlete for the girls. Bruce Briggs was named the Outstanding NSHS athlete by the Salina American Legion at the Boys Banquet. CoUin Hales and Glen Jensen tied for the Wade Levon Fbrsyth Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. The award is in honor of the late Wade Forsyth, an NSHS student who exemplified qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, integrity and spirituality. Ward Sets Scout Auction Its a boy for first time parents, Bart and Jackie Reynolds, Aurora. Aaron Bart Reynolds was born May 16, 1983 at the Gunnison Valley Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz. and was nineteen inches long. He is the first grandchild in both families. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerold N. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ward R Forsyth, Aurora, and Mrs. Jenny Reynolds, Gunnison. Aaron is also the first great grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson, Aurora. Other great grandparents are Mrs. Wilma Sorensen, Salina, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Reynolds, Mayfield. The Aurora Second Ward Varsity Scouts are having a Benefit Auction at the Aurora Park June 1 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. The 100 Percent Award winners were Eugene Weaver and KeUy Nielsen. Captains next year are Bruce Briggs, Scott Mason, Dana Sorensen, and J.R. Carter. Other basketball players who won awards were Vince Johnson, 21 Boards Champion, Foul Shot Boards and Most assists; Mark Colby, Most Jayvee assists; Gaylan Springer, Most Jayvee Rebounds; Farron Best Jayvee Defensive Player; Hal Koozer, Best Attitude; Lee Mayer, Most Varsity Rebounds. Vince Johnson also was named Best Defensive Player. Kelly Nielsen was named Most Dedicated and Most Improved Player. He and Collin Hales won the Scholastic Basketball Award for having the highest GPAs on the team. The Most Improved Track Athletes were Brett Barney, Troy Hatch, and Dana Sorensen. Most Coachab-l- e were Shane Harward and Jerry Johnson. Outstanding Track award went to Scott Mason. Best Field athlete was Vince Johnson. Next years captains are Scott Mason, 'my Hatcn, and Vince Johnson. Bruce Briggs was honored by the wrestling team for the foUowing accomplishments besides most outstanding wrestler; most takedowns, most falls (pins), team point leader. In Girls Basketball, Kathy Glover won the award for most assists. Other awards went to Lisa Willard-se- Deran Bosshardt had the most excapes and was named the scholar athlete. n.
