Show Religion and worship Wednesday May 4, 1988 '1r"' Missionaries Several area residents have been called to serve or are return ing from serving LDS Church missions. Sister Ruth Ann Winward, daughter of Jack H. and Ruth B. Winward, has been called to serve the Thailand Bangkok mission. Prior to her May 18 departure for the Missionary Training Center, Sister Winward will speak at the Kaysville 3rd Ward, 555 N. 1st E., Kaysville on May 15 at 8:30 a.m. Friends and relatives are invited to meet with the missionary at her home, 410 N. 1st E., after the meeting. A member of the Kaysville , LDS 3rd Ward, the new missionary is a licensed practical nurse working at Weber Memorial Care Center and is attending Weber State College. She is a 1985 graduate of Davis High School. Elder Nathan Farr has accepted a call to serve in the Geneva, Switzerland Mission, He is the son of J. Kenneth and Kerry Farr of Farmington. Elder Farr will be honored at a farewell on May 8 at 11:30 a.m. in the Farmington 10th Ward, 850 North Compton Bench Road. He will enter the MTC on May 11. Elder Farr is a graduate from Davis High School where he was in the Madrigals singing group his senior year. He graduated from Kaysville LDS Seminary and is an Eagle Scout. He has been attending the University of Utah. Elder Farr has worked at Kaysville Drug for the last four years and has delivered the Lakeside Review for the past seven years. Friends and relatives may visit with the missionary and his family at his home after the services. Sister Karlene Hess has served in the Seattle Washington Mission. She is the daughter of Sharlene R. Hess, 5934 S. 2625 W Roy, and Eldon J. Hess, N.D. She will speak on May 8, at the Roy 14th Ward, 5850 S. 2575 W., Roy at 10:50 a.m. Sunday. Elder Darin B. Swartz, the son of Bryan and Joan Swartz, of Far Mi-n- oi mington, has accepted a call to serve in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission. His farewell has been scheduled to be part of the services of the Farmington 16th Ward on May 8 at 8 a.m. in the Farming-to- n Compton Bench Chapel, 850 Compton Bench Road, Farming-to- j n. Family and friends may visit with the missionary and his family after the services at his home. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on May 18. Elder Swartz is a graduate of Davis High School and Kaysville Seminary. He is an Eagle Scout. He has acted as the USU ball team manager while attending Utah State University. He enjoys participating in many sports. Elder J. Trent Walker, son of Bert and Kaye Rawlins of Kaysville, has accepted a call to serve . in the Washington D.C. South. Mission. He will enter the MTC on May 11. Elder Walker is a 1987 graduate of Davis High School and LDS Seminary where he served as a member of the Seminary Council. He has just completed his freshman year at Ricks College on a leadership and art merit scholarship. Melissa Herget, daughter of Craig and Linda Herget, 1 136 E. Raymond Rd., Fruit Heights, has earned the Young Womens Gold Medallion. A member of the Fruit Heights 5th Ward, she is a senior at Davis High School and is an officer of FBLA (Future Business Leaders Df America). She has been the Laurel president and is presently the Laurel class secretary in her LDS ward. She plans to attends Southern Utah State College. Her interests include business courses, sewing and school activities. Marlene Nye received her Young Woman Medallion Award. Marlene is the daughter of Harold and Nelda Israelsen of 4640 S. 2525 W. in Roy and is a member of the Roy 7th Ward in the Roy LDS Stake. She is a student at Roy High School where she is currently involved in the Royal Choir. Marlene attends the Area Vocational College where she studies cosmetology. She works at the Video Shop. Kathryn Seely, daughter of Lila and the late Mernl Seely, 367 Hawthorne, Layton, has gone the extra mile to obtain the goals in her personal progress book to earn her Gold Medallion. , She is a member of the Layton 1st LDS Ward in the Holmes Creek Stake. Kathyrn is a graduate of the Monte Vista School. She is a member of the North Davis Area Handicapped Mutual and has participated in eight productions. She has attended seven summer camps and earned the camping award.
