City to the City Council in October of 1986, and said he desires to continue to be of service to the residents of Fruit Heights. His responsibilities as councilman have been to oversee the parks and recreation committee. Together with city employees, he said, he has been actively involved in improving the conditions of the newly acquired Fruit Heights City Park. New nets have been purchased for the tennis courts; the boweries have been repainted, signs erected, and lighting provided at the tennis courts and at the boweries. I have been supportive to the city administrator and to the mayor, in carrying out personnel policies and procedures. He believes Fruit Heights faces challenges in providing quality services, while at the same time keeping taxes down. To fulfill this goal. Muhlestein helped to draft a budget for fiscal year 1988 which resulted in no tax increases. I feel that I am fulfilling the responsibility entrusted to me by my community to control expenditures and exercise good financial management. I feel that a good city is run by successful administrators, and that together they provide vital services such as police and fire protection, well kept and maintained roads, adequate water, and other essential utilities for its residents. Sound management strategies over the next few years are critical to resolving the traffic problems which exist on Highway 89, he said. The safety of each resident while crossing the highway is of major concern. ar David Barton Service is Our Middle Name David FRUIT HEIGHTS Barton is a candidate for Fruit Heights City Council. He is a lifelong resident of Davis County. He and his wife, and their four children have lived in Fruit Heights for the last 10 years. He is a owner and a licensed contractor. I enjoy my association with friends and neighbors and would like to see all of the residents of Fruit Heights become more involved in maintaining the community as a safe, clean, and wholesome place to raise families, he said. If elected, some of my goals for Fruit Heights would be: 1. Keep the rural atmosphere of the city planning growth carefully to preserve the special atmosphere that exists there now. 2. Little, if any, industrial or commerical growth. However, the rights of property owners with property suited for that type of growth must be individually con- Fimace Cleaning La-Vo- small-busine- Clean, oil & safety check your furnace for winter. n, ss sidered. 3. Stay out of debt. We have been wisely counseled to stay out of debt. That counsel shold apply to government as well. We have to keep city spending down whenever possible. The county debt is too high. We need to put pressure on county officials to use bonding only as a last resort. 4. Keep our capital improvements in good repair. 5.
