Brough completed a ' four-ye- ar doctor of optometry program at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, Calif., where he received training in general eye examinations, glasses and contact lenses, vision training, and eye disease detection and diagnosis. While in California he received his bachelor of science degree with suma cum laude honors. He received his doctor of optometry degree in June of 1985, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. ' During his tenure at the optometry school he served as secretary of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Fraternity, and was also a member of the Omega Epsilon Phi Fraternity. At the end of his fourth year he received the Bausch and Lomb Contact Lens Award for outstanding academic achievement, technical skills, and interest in the contact lens field."
