She was born Jan. 27, 1883, in Alleghaney North County, a Carolina, daughter of Daniel Thomas and Mary Ann Taylor Good- man. She married Charles Stuart Tarter on Oct. 18, Bernard Waite CLEARFIELD Smedley, 83, of 995 South 1000 West., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 1985, at his home of causes incident to age. He was born May 3. 1901, in Bountiful, a son of Henry and Margaret Waite Smedly. He married Ella May Draper on January 17, 1923, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a farmer for 60 years and for many years he was superintendant of the Syracuse City Cemetery. He had lived in Bountiful, Syracuse and Clearfield. He attended Davis County Schools. He was an acative member of the LDS Church and served two missions, a stake mission from 1948 to 1950 and served in the New Zealand from 1969 to 1971. He served in the elders quorum presidency and was a ward and stake genealogical worker. He sang in the choir throughout his life. Surviving are his widow of Clearfield; four sons and two daughters, George H. Smedley and Mrs. I. Johnn (LaVell) Thayne, both of Syracuse; D. Smedley, Ogden; Milton B. Smedley, Pleasant View, Utah; Thayne C. Smedley, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Robert G. (Sheryl) Allred, Clearfield; 39 grandchildren, 38 13 step grandchildren 17 step greatgrandchildren.
