HATCH Review Correspondent When he was in junior high and high school, Brandon Flint idolized National Football League players like the Dallas Cowboys Randy White and Ed Too Tall Jones. Now he has with them. the chance to play Flint, a product of Layton high school and more recently , Brigham Young University, has been signed as a free agent by Dallas and will report to the rookie camp Cowboys three-da- y in just .over a week. , It hasnt hit yet, Flint said of his signing. : , I just kept hoping they wouldnt draft me because of all the talent theyve got. After the draft there were five more teams that were interested in signing me as a free agent, but after looking at all the rosters, I decided Dallas looked like the team Id have the best shot at - f The Cowboys only sign two ' or three free agents at each position and they didnt draft any defensive lineman. Flint was named Honorable Mention by The Associated Press his senior season and received the same honor from the Sporting News his junior year. In addition, he was an Athletic Conference selection at his senior season; In high school Flint played offensive tackle and defensive end, and upon graduating in 1979 he went to BYU where he held down the starting role at defensive end for three straight years.
