Show Page 12 - Millard County USPS Thurs Dec 22 1988 Seat belts help protect unborn Wearing lap and shoulder belts can protect both the expectant mother and her unborn child according to Jean Hatch March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation Southern Utah Division director Citing a recent study by the National Transportation and Safety Board Hatch explained “In the accidents studied involving pregnant women nearly everyone who used lap and shoulder belts properly survived the crashes and the babies were delivered One year after delivery the children showed no appearance of impairment due to crash trauma In the only case of fetal death a lateral collision crushed the mother’s side of the car causing fatal head juries for the unborn baby “While wearing lap and shoulder belts don’t guarantee 100 percent safety for the fetus this study shows that it can be a great deterrant” Hatch said For greatest effectiveness the belt should be properly routed over the shoulders and the lap belt under the mother’s abdomen according to Hatch The March of Dimes is committed to the outcome of pregnancy improving for both the mother and child Proper safety steps as well as good prenatal care including regulai checkups can help insure success For more information about the prevention of birth defects call the March of Dimes office at SUTHERLAND Dora Rose Ph: On Dec 4 the first grandson of with various some debts things unobligations done things to do worried and problems and sometimes it seems with sorrow We wonder how we can be everywhere we ought to be and do all the things we ought to be Sometimes we feel that we are not completing anything and we are not in control of anything We reshuffle problems and Mountains seem to be obligations unscalable but they can be climbed and the way to begin is take the first upward step From that moment the mountains are less high The slopes that seem so steep from a distance seem to level off as we near them Anv task in life is easier if we approach it with the If we attitude if we keep going-tworry and doubt will soon lift and begin to lighten W e can’t do everything always but we can do something now and doing something will help lift
