These were words of"Rebel head coach Greg Croshaw a few days before the Homecoming game against 13 th ranked Ricks. The Rebels did more than perform well. They looked like they were ready to take on the world as they buried and bid farewell Ricks, 23-3- , happily to '82. The mean Rebel machine displayed not only an awesome defense, but their offense, led by quarterback Ken Munk, was something to watch too. Munk, just recovered from a severe injury, replaced John Smiley who was in Indiana due to the death of a niece. Paul Moody got the fun going for Dixie when he booted a thirty-fou- r 23-- 3 3-- 3 homecoming victory over the Ricks College Vikings yard field goal with 5 .50 remaining in the opening quarter. Dixie led 3 0. The Rebels, soon after, put . together a big offensive drive Marcus Brown capped the effort by powering three yards for six. Moody hit the PAT and Dixie led 10 0 with 8 43 remaining in the down-field- first half. Late in the second period, Rebel Joe Boxley fumbled a punt. Ricks took advantage of the turnover as Gary Webster hit a thirty-twyard field goal with 3 .02 remaining in the first half. o After Dixies Taz Smith picked off a Viking pass, the Rebel offense really showed off. After some big yard plays, including a forty-sevepass from Munk to Davey Williams, n Munk connected with Dalian Allridge for a nine yard TD play. Carter, a 59 sophomore defensive back from Las Vegas, Nevada, had two interceptions and contributed in other key defensive plays as the Dixie defense held Ricks Hometo three points in their 23-coming win last Saturday. Athlete 3 Cherry Roper Cherry Roper has been selected as this issues female Athlete of the WWW wwm AND CHERRY ROPER Week. She helped the Lady Rebel Volleyball team put up a good fight against the Snow College Badgers last weekend. Coach Robert Horlacher said that when the Rebel tean played the Badgers, Cherry played what may have been the best game of her life. She did a heck of a job at Snow! exclaimed Horlacher. Cherry is a sophomore at Dixie. She played on both the Volleyball and Basketball teams her freshman year and helped this years Lady Rebel record. team clam its 7-- 5 overall |
