Show H8 The Salt Lake TribuneDeseret News Sunday April 4 1993 coverings including the dry cleaning and care of the product after we sell it And everything is custom made There was a time not so long ago when if you wanted new drapes for your windows you went to an interior designer who then worked with a seamstress to create custom drapes for your home But in recent years handmade drapes have given way to hand-in-han- d cookie-cutte- drapes manufac- r tured on assembly-line- s often in Asian countries and sold in department stores and window shopes across the nation One notable exception however is Bay Way Window Fashion Design 1356 E 33rd South "We are a family business" says Julie Bay whose family has owned and operated Bay Way for 51 years "We specialize in window coverings and window treatments and we have interior designers who work with us who help with the selection of paint wallpapering and carpeting the color designs "What makes us different is we handle all facets of window covering including the dry cleaning and care of the prod uct after we sell it And everything is custom made individual seamstresses make each and every window covering" she said "That is becoming more and more rare Most drapes are done in work-rooassembly line processes where it's hard to get a drapery What we sell is quality and workmanship That begins with laying out the fabric and cutting it Someone who knows what they are doing can feel the needs of each fabric Not every fabric works and hangs the m fine-qualit- y same way" Bay also hires her own professionals to hang the drapes "We don't hire freelancers who get paid by how much they do When we hang our product we make sure it looks well that the quality meets our expectations as well as the customer" Such custom drapes are expensive right? Well not necessarily One advantage of being in business for more than 50 years is that many of Bay's original wholesale fabric suppliers are now fabric mills Getting the fabrics directly from the mill keeps prices down and "keeps our product within reach of the normal person" So what's new this year? "Bright colors are in this year" Bay says "And lots of layered Bay adds that preferred colors are "crystal clean No gray tones Crisp clean colors Sky and garden colors paprika cin- y olould Krystal Zeman shows a popular look In AND SUPPLIES & ATTACHMENTS DISCOUNT SALES CONTRACTOR DISCOUNT PRICES To All INSTALLATION AVAILABLE 4 ASK ABOUT How to Install SPECIAL Performance You Expect Quality You Demand' NOW ONLY &Want Headlight 30 Cord g 53340900 22r71 9-- Weekdays $aturdays -SPRini9ILER WaRLDIffilifif 10-- r- Irstott 317040' to - anNteir rtigatiOn't Model 973-704- 6 3725 SOUTH REDWOOD ROAD MON FRI 10 AM 7 PM SAT 10 AM - 6 PM CLOSED SUNDAYS YOUR CHOICE LieZ & 1 U9htWeight Portable 1Plece Mute AbovaThefloor CleaNng a Tool PaIrt 6999 1414 VALLEY W VT "Jr1 - i I:A 'SAW Tools 150 3500 $ 972-852- 9 APPLIANCE CO WI " Look Mom No Legs! trFAtin I 9 - r THE INTERMOUNTAIN AREA'S MOST COMPLETE LINES OF SPRINKLERS A IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT nat Mighty Mite® Canister 13) Peak 111 abler Powerful tot Compact Eureka Upright Moto Carpet Height Adiustrnent Automatic Dual Edge Chtening PowirDrIven Brush Roll 0 Powerful Direct Air now System Deep Cleans Carpet 4 Carpt Height Amp TOLL FREE Financing Available Or Nom?
