Show The Salt Lake Tribune, Thursday, December 26, Its a foolish A2I 14K5 I idea ' bee St i to open the door Dear Ann Landers: I have a question I have not seen in your column before and I would appreciate an answer. How does one politely tell a stranger that he (or she) cannot use your bathroom With all the stories in the newspapers these days about people having one disease or another, I am afraid to let strangers use my facilities In the Ann Landers past when I have permitted it, I always have gone in immediately after and scoured the place from top to bottom. I do the same after painters or carpenters have gone in. This might sound extreme but it gives me peace of mind. Where I live there are no gas stations or roadside eating places that have restrooms. I find it especially difficult to say no to young children who show up at my and teen-agedoor. In my opinion it takes a lot of nerve for a grown person to ask to use someones bathroom. Id have to be pretty desperate before I could do it. Please give me some advice. Greensburg, PA. Dear Green: It is foolish to open the door for a stranger. You could be raped, robbed or even killed When people are working on or in your home you are obligated to permit them access to the facilities. (At least you know who these people are, but strangers never!) Small children should not be turned away. I wouldn't allow strange teenagers in my home, however. They could be armed, drunk, stoned and rs (SytrUos ClMIhes out for no good Don t you read the papers, Lady Dear Ann Landers: Here s a message for the woman whose lover scrammed because she was the stronYou are lucky ger in to be rid of the jerk. Obviously, this must be a very powerful drug and, like all drugs, I imagine it would be dangerous for some people. Is this in Mr. T.E., Little fact the case? Rock, Ark. Dear Mr. E.: Immunosuppressive drugs, like all drugs, have the potential to do harm. The question with these as with other drugs is whether the benefits of using them outweigh 'the potential risks. Insofar as cardiac transplants are concerned, the answer is yes. Cyclosporine, for example, has increased the rate of survival of transplant patients even though its use is associated with adverse side effects. These side effects include hypertension and kidney problems. As seri-olu- s as these are, however, the risk of w v - ll Also, who would hold a child in a picture?
