Show (founty .QJ I , PERRON Talk about your s-. II .irrcs! Well, we guess the gentlemen msmbers of the 500 club showed ic to us on the night of the 9th. The music wbf furnished by the Orangeville band, which was excellent ex-cellent indeed. Dancing commenced at 9 o'clock and at 12 o'clock, the "Home Sweet Home" waltz was played. But did they go home? We guess not; but on the contrary went to the grandest banquet ever given in Ferron, at the Taylor Ho'el. The decorations were red and white carnations (not artificial ones either); and cfepe paper, all dotted with red and white hearts, hung all over the room, as well as in the dancing danc-ing hall, which of course represented Valentine day, which was not far away At the dance there was never better order; the stage b dng arranged like a parlor. In the lower left hand corner of the hall was the lemma le stind, which the dancers enjoyed very much. What made it more pleasing than ever was the beautiful, smiling face of Frunta Loary and Zenna 01 sen who made sure that the glasses werp always full. At half p ist 5 o'clock tie m r,i- ing of th : 10th, the party adjourned, all feeling well paid for having been present. Tne refresh niits at th ihojse consisted of orei.', ice cream, and punch. School was closed Monday (Abraham Lincoln's birthday) "He was the best old man in all the world, excepting pa" the little beginners at school tell us in their little recitations. We sometimes wonder why it is that we don't praise a man's good deeds while he is with us, instead of waiting until he has passed pass-ed beyond all earthly praise. William J. Glasmann, lectured here on the 9th. He is a progressive republican, re-publican, so he told us, and explained the progressive idea of the initiative, referendum, and recall, as taken from the socialistic platform. He also told us to think about these things, and we are going to add, if we think intelligently intel-ligently on any subject we must understand un-derstand that subject not in-part, but thoroughly and to inderstand it, it is essential to read and Rtudy. W di not waul be merely dr.ft'.ng o i th evn mon bark of life. Nor do we all expect to become eminent but we must try to do the best we can, considering our circumstances and invironments in life. It seems quite evident to us that our nation, in regard to governmental affairs, 'ig about to undergo a slight change at least., and we the citizens of .' this nation are responsible whether this government is good or bad. There was ., never a time in the history of our nation that men and women need to think more than at the present time. Women are not exempt from the great study that these facts involve. We are women and we think ourf reater gave to women thp same intelligence that he gave to . man, and if we are going to vote let us ; learn how to vote and to do this we i must study and learn to think for our- '. selves.
