Show "THE NAVAJO PRINCESS" CIVEN CROWDED HOUSES "The Navajo Princess," is no longer the treat so eagerly anticipated, but is, instead, a live reality that has been witnessed by a host of the lovers of all : that is charming in music and romance, j and in their minds will ever remain the story of the Indian life displayed in the ' modern opera of the West. I Never before has there been such an audience as greeted the performance of j this pretty opera last Saturday evening I With the magnificent attendance from ' the local people, swelled by the con- j ference crowds, there was presented 1 an audience of listeners that could not but reward Prof. Driggs and his associ- at'S and pupils, in the presentation of the piece. The entire seating capacity was sold out, and every inch of standing stand-ing room was utilized by those too late to proeur seating accomodations. From the raising of the curtain until the final lowering of the same, the sweet voici'S of Emery county's native sons a 1 I daughters, trained by the maste. in the person of Professor Driggs, were hard, inferpreting the vi-rv life an I soul f the West, and giving to the ' magnificent lines and music of the opera a touch that we doubt could be given elsewhere than in the Kingdom of Emery and by its sinters. The theme itself is a beautiful one, conceived by Prof. Driggs in the patriotic patri-otic love of our country and the West with its live charms and veritable wonderlands won-derlands as arrayed against the herald-i ed grandeur of Europe and Europe's more or less dead beauty. The "See Europe if you will, but s.ee America first, " chorus and the ghost dance around the typical Indian camp fire, were especially - well rendered, though it would be hard indeed, to discriminate dis-criminate among tne many features that go to make up the whole of this pretty western romance. All of the characters were well taken and the scenery and light effects were superb. "The Navajo Princess" was again presented last night to a well filled house, and the performance was, if possible, even better than on the Saturday Satur-day previous, various little things that had, at the former presentation, caused a little trouble, having been remedied. |
