Gesner of the music departmentof the Hungerford academy Springville, spent last week end w th Miss Mary Martin, and assisted in the Easter music at the Presbyterian church. Peter Henry Anderson of this city and Marth Elizabeth Wride of Piovo were married last week in Provo. Jas. Snow of Fairview, deputy tree inspector, was through this end of the county this week on official business. Last Friday night's popular meeting was led by the woman's Missionary society. It was well attended, and was full of human interest, touching upon work among the Nez Perces Indians, and in the new republic of China. Harry Winch came home from Banning, Ban-ning, California, Sunday. Mrs. Winch met him in Salt Lake where they visited for a few davs. John R. Braithwaite purchased the N. W. Anderson home this wek. We understand Mr. Andf rson intends to move to Price. Rev. H. H. Eihnsen of Ferron was the speaker at the Presb terian church on Easter night, taking as his text Acts 2:32, "'This Jesus did God raise up, wherefore we are all witnesses." Recorder Rorney Tilby spent a couple of days this week at Axtel where he has purchased 40 acres of ground from James Tooth of this city. Sheep shearing will start at the corrals of the Manti Shearing Co. at Christian-nurg, Christian-nurg, Sunday. Mrs. Adolin Buchanan, one of Manti's pioneers, passed away at 8 o'clock last night. G. E. Snow who has been seriously ill for several weeks is still a very sick man. A San Francisco man was in Manti lust week looking up the white stone situation. -i Easter was a beautiful day this year. Many crowds of old and "young people were out. Some went up Lost Creek Canyon, some to Gooseberry, and some to Maple Grove. This Easter was a-bout a-bout the prettiest and best Easter spent for a number of years. Aaron Prows took his little boy to a Salt Lake specialist last week and had him operated on for enlarged tonsils and adenoids. He is doing well. Thoryal Anderson has given his home a new coat paint. Mrs. C. N. Lund and children spent Easter in Cenferfield with relatives. Banard Mattson, forest ranger, has been transfered from the Salina forest for-est to the Fish Lake forest and is making mak-ing his headquarters at Salina. Edith Thorien went to Salt Lake Tuesday to continue her school w ork. The foui teen-year old son of John Kenney of Canada is reported to lei quite sick. Miss Nellie Seaton visited in Salina the latter partof last week. A. S. Gates went to Sala Lake to see the doctors, as he hasn.t been feeling well the last while. I Mrs. August Ericksen, who went to the hospital last week, is reported bet-ter bet-ter and it is said she will not have to ' undergo an operation but will have to remain there for treatment for two or three weeks. A birthday party was tendered Mrs. H. C. Nielson out in the farm in honor j of her 52nd birthday. A. S. Crane is home from Salt Lake arjd reports that his wife underwent a delicate operation at the hospital there but is recovering nicely. Fairview The Fairview Literary club met with Mrs. Peacock, a good turnout present. MrB. Elis Coombs and Mrs. Geneva; Larson of Provo were visitors. A large number of people attended conference this year from Fairview. Mrs. Kaziah Stevens Hafen died in j Mt. Pleasant Friday morning. She i has been in poor health for years and about a week ago gave birth to a ch Id that lived only a few hours. The funeral was held in Mt. Pleasant Tuesday. She leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Mrs Geo Tucker and Mrs. J. H. Brady were Manti visitors this week. The young baby of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Voorhees has been sujring for some time with a severe case of bronchitis. bron-chitis. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Christianson left Sunday with their fam.ly for their home in Idaho. The forest service is intending to build a telephone line from May field to Mt. Baldy Ringar Station, at the head of the north fork of Twelve mile canyon, thence to Emery. Emery Co., passing and connecting Clay Spring Ranger Station, in Muddy canyon. Ranger Christianson met with the -town board Tuesday night and asked for the construction of the line within the town limits. Mrs. Lester Dav who has spent the winter here left Saturday for her home in Emery county. Wednesday night the Centerfield Home Dramatic Co. presented "The Brookdale Farm" in our Opera House. |
