Show Two Views of Insurrection j This is the way the Mexican revolution question is discussed in one of the Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, papers: j The Mexican revolution is being pros-j pros-j ecuted with great energy and the result j will be the ejection of President Diaz from office and the establishment of the j insurrecto faction in power. The revo-1 revo-1 lution is also being vigorously put down, 'and no quarter will be shown to those j who have resorted to arms to secure j their objects. There you have both sides stated the one according to the insurrecto point of view, the other from the government point of view. President Diaz has giver, notice that the government will not treat with the rebels while they are under arms, and the insurrectos declare they , will not lay down their arms until they get what they want. President Diaz has recognized recogniz-ed the popular demand for a change to the extent of turning out his old cabinet and forming a new one. In the old cabinet cab-inet were a number of aged statesmen ! who were altogether too standpat to suit the insurrecto element. Senor de la Barra, the Mexican ambassador at Washington, has been put into the important im-portant post of minister of foreign affairs af-fairs or secretary of state. Numerous reforms of the election and other laws are promised, but the insurrectos are not satisfied that these reforms will be carried out. - ... |
