Show THE BUCKHORN PROJECT WILL BEGIN ACTION Arrangements for the letting of contracts con-tracts for the $400,000 Buckhom Irrigation Irri-gation company's project, by which 30,-000 30,-000 acres of Emery county land near Price is to be reclaimed, are now being made and the coming months will see construction work on the large dams to be built across Huntincrton rreek under way. The department of the interior in-terior has approved the segregation and the survey of this tract and sufficient financial backing has been found to insure in-sure a speedy completion. This project promises more to Emery county than any other enterprise ever begun within its domains. It promises to bring into this country an increase of population amounting to from five to ten thousand more people, who will build homes and pay taxes. Some of the promoters have been in this week and report that the Buckhom district will be sold in small strips as fruit farms. The obstacle now in the way is the road to get to the flat, but this will be removed in the near future. The county commissioners have consented consent-ed to have the road between here designated desig-nated as a state road thereby providing a means of construction of a fine automobile auto-mobile road. Mr. Matson, state road commissioner, will be in the county probably next week and surveys and maps of the route will be drawn up. The road supervisors will also be called call-ed out to level up the excellent roads on the main line through the county so the oncoming investors will be able to travel at the fastest possible speed. The Buckhorn is but a small district compared with the rest of the county, and as soon as the train of investors and homeseekers is turned this way we are sure to reap great benefits in development. devel-opment. This is a chance in a life time for Emery county to show what encouragement encourage-ment it will give to such developments. |
