Show Proposed Mall Readies Plans The image and activity generated by the downtown street improvement and construction of the ZCMI Center will be further enchanced with the completion of the Crossroads Plaza The Crossroads Plaza will be directly west of the ZCMI Center and will be bounded by South Temple on the north, Main Street on the east, First South on the south and West Temple on the west. On the same site will be a Sheraton Hotel on the comer of First South and West Temple. Governmental red tape has slowed the project, but developers report they have overcome major hurdles in purchasing property for the structure. Seventy percent of the block will be occupied by the shopping complex. Buildings which will remain are the I'nion Pacific Building; Temple Square Hotel; the building at 57 W. South Temple and the building at First South and Mam. Setting off the plaza will be a high rise office building tower which will house the offices of Commercial Security Bank. Commercial Security will also have an equity interest in the tower. Anchor store for the Crossroads Plaza will be Weins-tock- s department store. The store will occupy 150,000 square feet of space and be a full operational store. This will include mens, womens, childrens and household departments, along with a restaurant. The new Weinetoeks will be open for business in the spring of 1980, according to Max Murphey, Weinstocks official at the Sacramento-base- d firm. It was originally announced that it would be a Broadway store in the plaza, but the parent firm of both Broadway and Weinstocks, recently moved the Utah stores into their northern division with headquarters in Sacramento because their buyers are more familiar with customers. buying for Crossroads Plaza, a new regional shopping center will be built in downtown Salt Lake City, wrr LITTON GI)$on-- -- across Main Street from ZCMI Center.
