Show Dr. M. C. Wood is in Sale Lake on business visit. Mrs. Blanch Petty is visiting relatives and friends over the mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Earl O.nan from Helper Help-er visited relatives and friends in the Dale this week. W. J. Douglass returned Tuesday from Ogden and Salt Lake City, whither he went on business. Misses Inez Day and Mabel Smith came down from Mohrland. to start in school Monday. Miss Crystal Behunin has been appointed ap-pointed to act as first counselor in the stake M. I. A. presidency. M. The contemplated organization of a county mutual life insurance company after the order of a like company in Missouri, as explained by the treasurer of the same, has been given up for the present at least, Willard Done, high mogul of insurance in Utah, having discouraged dis-couraged the enterprise. Mrs. Nellie Petersen, who worked in the Z. C. M. I. millinery department in Salt Lake for two years and who proved to be very successful in that line, went to Salt Lake Sunday where she will buy an uptc.date line of fall millinery to be placed on sale in the Castledale Co-op building where she has secured a portion of the upstairs. The opening of same will be announced later. Willis Nickleson, who has been a stranger in these parts for sometime, showed up this week in custody of the sheriff and appeared before Justice Miller Thursday afternoon. He waived preliminary examination and was bound over to the district court under bonds of ?750, which he hud not been able to secure up to yet-t.-rday and therefore is entertained in the custody of deputy sheriff, S. V. Acord. One of the heaviest rains for years fell in and around Prire on Sunday and at noon the canal around the city was full and overflowing, running in torrents tor-rents down the streets, basements were filled in most of the busiuess houses and yards and streets are filled with mud and debris. Trains of the Denver & Rio Grande were delayed two hours betwem Price and Mounds on account i of the washed out track. One span of ! the railroad bridge over the Price river I on the Castle Valley branch was wash- ed out and the county bridge just east of Price was washed away. |
