Show PRICE CANYON LINK ! FAR TOO EXPENSIVE According to H. Lee Bo;, er of the Beyer Bros. Construction company of Springville, Utah, which is changing the roadbed of the Denver & Rio Grand,- railruad on Soldier Summit, tl e ! cost of building the Midland trail oyer j the summit would be prohibitive. Mr. Boyer was in Ogden last week getting a carload of machinery from the Utah Construction company. "In the first place the expense of builuing the road over that route from Grand Junction to Thistle, in Spanish Fork canyon, would be so great that the taxpayers could not meet it, and secondly there is no well thinking person per-son who would expend his iddividual i money to make the road, " he raid. "In the country from Colton, which is near the summit, to Price and Grand Ju c-t.ion c-t.ion ravines have been filled'with dirt, no culverts having been provided to carry off the water under the roadway. Every freshet and freshets are numerous numer-ous in the spring of the year the roads are washed away. Machines approaching approach-ing the washouts usually are on the biink of the ditch before the washout is observed and they go plunging into tie gully. " Mr, Boyer lives on the line of the proposed Midland route. Herald Republican. |
