Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 25, 2000 Sports Lynx football season ends By Kent Mason The Lynx received the opening kickoff and after a 12 yard return by Scott Colson, they went to work on their own 22 yard line. After a two yard carry by Nate Tait, Scott Colson picked up 18 on a sweep outside. Again it was Tait up the middle for two yards then Colson was caught in the backfield for a two yard loss. On a third and 10, a Bret LeClair pass was intercepted. The Wildcats, starting in Lynx territory, soon moved in for the score. The TD came on a 17 yard scamper around the end. Their two-poiconversion, however, was stuffed by Fredonia. Again Scott Colson returned the kickoff 12 yards and the Lynx started on their own 29. A 12 yard pass from LeClair to J.D. Horlacher moved them to the Wildcat 39. After Colson was thrown for a two yard loss, Tait went into the line for a one yard gain. Next, a LeClair pass fell incomplete and Fredonia was faced with a fourth down and 1 1 yards to go right at the midfield stripe. A decision to go for the first instead of punting the ball turned out to be disastrous. The fourth down pass fell incomplete giving Joe City possession. Two ensuing penalties on the Lynx had them backed up against their own goal line only eight yards away from another Wildcat TD. Nate Tait got into the Wildcat backfield and dropped the ball carrier for a two yard loss bringing up a second and goal from the 10. A pass into the endzone was ruled complete for touchdown even though everyone on the Joe City bench said the receiver caught the ball on the bounce. The officiating up to this point had been terrible. A pass at nt -- to the Wildcats. Joe Citys next score came on a 20 yard pass play.
