Grades 7-- 8 -- e, w As our students leave our educational institution, our primary goal as educators and as a community is to help these students Definite classes for spring semes- ter are: Intro to Music; American develop the knowledge, skills anti characteristics necessary to enable them to live productive and meaningful lives in our society. Literature; Intro to Geology, and General Biology. On the bubble are: Ceramics, Oral Communications, and Intro to Writing. Athree credithour class costs $148.50 with another $40 or thereabouts fear a textbook. A one-tim- e application fee of $25 to become a Dixie State College student is also required. Pell Grants are available for those who qualify because of low income or other hardship reasons. Education will never be cheaper or more easily obtained; classes right here at Kanab High School by faculty; deemed qualified by Dixie State The State Board of Education establishes minimum course description standards and objectives for each course in the required general core. Our Kane County School District, along with the Utah State Office of Education, are partners in developing the descriptions for required and elective courses. Implementation and assessment procedures are the responsibility of our local school district and schools. Since 1984, the Core Curriculum has been tested and refined. The following charts show the required core curriculum in our various schools. Elementary Core Curriculum Grades Outreach Program Rodney Rebel is still alive and kicking! However, as in the case ofMark Twain. ...reports of his death are greatly exaggerated. here-to-for- Units of Credit Required General Core 10.5 Units plus Required Electives 1.5 12 -- The Core Curriculum represents standards of learning that are essential for all students. They are the ideas, concepts, and skills that provide a foundation on which learning may be built. The Core takes into consideration with respect for differences in learning styles, learning rates and individual capabilities. Although the Core Curriculum standards are intended to play a major part of the school program, they are not the total curriculum or course. 12 College, a four-yea- r, fully accred- ited institution. College credits accepted by any university right here in your own backyard would really seem to me to be a golden opportunity, a real chance to grab die brass ring. Of course, what do I know? I voted for Barry Goldwater.. jne and six other K-- 6 guys. Spring semester begins the first part of January, 2001. Classes are one night a week for 15 weeks taking a student up until the latter part of April. A class lasts approximately two and one-hahours. A good education takes dedicated effort, but these night classes make it as palatable as possible. Dont be left standing with a foolish grin on your face and nothing but a hole in your pocket. Get an edulf cation! Nothing in this life is guaranteed.. rexcept federal intervention...but you can bet- ter your odds of success by placing a sheepskin in your breast Middle and High School Requirements pocket. Come on, join Rodney Rebel in the long gray line. Students in grades seven and eight must earn a minimum of 12 units of credit. Students in grades nine through twelve must earn a minimum of 24 units of credit. Formal assessment of student mastery of the general core courses occur as a minimum during or at the completion of grades eight, ten, and twelve. Elementary School Requirements . Formal assessments occur during the completion of the primary grades. Informal assessment occur on a frequent ongoing basis to ensure continual student progress. The Kane County School District Board ofEducation believes as individuals apply themselves to the Core, they will develop skills in language, scientific understanding, mathemantics, historical perception, aesthetic appreciation, social interaction' fitness, health, and career competencies.
