PUBLIC NOTICE REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS AND PERFORMANCE DATA IN CONJUNCTION WITH A FUTURE PROJECT FOR THE KANE COUNTY WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT TO IMPROVE THE EXISTING KANAB IRRIGATION COMPANY AGRICULTURAL AND SECONDARY WATER SYSTEM REQUEST: The Kane County Water Conservancy District (KCWCD or the District) invite engineering firms to submit Statements of Qualifications and Performance Data (SOQ&PD) to be considered for preparation of a water study to assist the District with improving the existing agricultural and secondary water system in the Kanab City area. BACKGROUND 2. Researching the watershed and water production areas for the Kanab Irrigation Company. Make recommendations to the District on the best available methods for improving the watershed areas in a 3, 5, and 1 0 year plan that would include BLM Public Lands, State Institutional Trust Lands and Private Lar.dc within the watershed area. Prioritize each improvement such that maximum benefits will be realized in the first years with gradual improvement to capture the entire 7500 acre foot water right. 3. Make recommendations based on location and estimated costs for construction, feasibility etc. for one or more suitable off stream reservoir locations to store and recover winter storage water for use in the growing season. Make recommendations on improving and expanding the existing delivery system. INFORMATION: The Kanab Irrigation Company currently provides commercial irrigation water to areas in and adjacent to the city of Kanab. It also provides iawn and garden irrigation to about 20 percent of the community. Water is derived from surface flows in Kanab Creek and is diverted into a pressurized pipeline above the City of Kanab. During the winter, Kanab Irrigation Company has rights to the total flow of Kanab Creek, but after April 15 upstream users divert from and essentially dry up the creek. During the irrigation season, water comes from return flows and springs along the creek below the upstream diversions. Stream flow during the summer varies from 10 Cfs to 2.5 Cfs. The average annual irrigation shortage for Kanab Irrigation Company is estimated at 4,400 acre-fe(KCWCD Master Plan 797). The District is researching ways that the current Irrigation Company System can be improved by additional storage and delivery capacity, improvement of the watershed area, drilling of wells in the tributary aquifer or a combination of the above. 4. Make recommendations for better and improved water distribution for flood, pressurized, and secondary home irrigation users. Make recommendations to extend the secondary water service area to include all of the residential and commercial water users in the city. 5. Make recommendations for potential cooperation with county, city and othfer governmental entities and private users on water development, water consumption and water distri- bution. 6. Research the water source area and determine the production areas, where existing uses may be impacting the Irrigation Water Companies water rights. et U TopeQwwta Cpyrih O Wi DtUn Yarmouth, ME M09i 12MWII Scale I : S0.000 Detail: 12-- 0 Datum WCSS4 Published in the Southern Utah News on March 29, NOTICE OF CONTRACTORS The KANE COUNTY COMMISSION will accept sealed bid proposals to construct 1200 feet of road, which includes grading 6 inches of crushed aggregate base and 2 inches of hot asphalt concrete pavement on the North Fork Road from the intersection with Highway 9.
