Judd also said the Board recommended a promotion for Greg Aikenhead to Office Manager of the Visitor Center. The Board has restructuredjob descriptions and responsibilities for employees at the information center. Both requests were unanimously approved. Harvey Zilm and Clyde Tucker, representing the Kane Council on Aging, recommended limiting the services at the Valley Senior Citizen Center. A public hearing is scheduled for May 12, 1999, at 6 p.m. for public comment. The main issue is closing the kitchen. All services will continue like Meals on Wheels. The meals will be prepared in the Kanab Center and delivered to the Valley. A public hearing was held for the closure of Cove Road. The closure involves the site of the future Cove Reservoir. Once the appraisal and survey are complete, the property will be purchased by the Kane County Water Conservancy District. A motion that the area be ommendation to use the funds for a turbine. Mike Noel, KCWCD, reported that the Canyon Country project in Johnson Canyon is $732,000 and is contingent on a grant. Noel requested $40,000 to get the project started. The Commissioners put the issue on the May 10, 1999 agenda. May 24, 1999, at 10 a.m. was set for a public hearing for roads within the Monument. Roads Supervisor Lou Pratt will meet with the BLM on roads in the county and title five applications. Kane and Garfield Counties do not want as many restrictions on three roads in the Monument that both counties have an interest in. Comments received on or before June 21, 1999 will now be accepted as part of the formal scoping process.
