The abuse I suffered in your school as all the teachers watched. As I was verbally and physically attacked everyday. I almost killed your children. I had dreams through my tears...dreams of revenge and dreams of blood. This wasnt from my head. It was from the violence the cruel children put upon me... So began the anonymous let- ter left on the editors desk of the Southern Utah News. By Laurnli Noteman Brent Gardner of Alpha Engineering presented his design for a sewer system in Kanab Creek Ranchos at the Kanab City Council meeting on April 27. The meeting was held in the District Courtroom to house the standing room only crowd. Tension was tight and attitudes controlled as Mayor Alvey requested the audience keep their remarks in check until Gardner had finished his presentation. The mayor reminded spectators, We are all friends here. I know most of you. This meeting was called to get your input. Nothing has been decided. We just need to know how you feel. It was obvious how the crowd felt. Several residents were called on to voice their opinions and each responded in a stand-u- p fashion. Gardner stated the sewer lines would be run to the most convenient location for the property owner and stubbed in at the property line. For property dent Bob Johnson, Editor Dixie Brunner, and a former student who had recently dropped out of a district high school due to harrassment. The author explained that she wanted to make people aware of how easily a tragedy like Columbine could happen, due to the prejudice and isolation many children and adults experience here. The meeting produced positive results. Superintendent Johnson was going to investigate not only the students allegations, but whether the district is doing everything it can to ascertain all students safety. He also hoped to reiterate to all staff that it is their responsibility to set a good example oftreatment ofothers, as well as quickly punishing students who harrass or mistreat others.
