A few years ago, when then Senator Mori brought 700 visitors to Kanab, he asked his colleagues to donate to the library fund. Kanab Library Fund has received over $12,000 donated by the Japanese. Our Library Board arranged for Mori to take part in the ground-breakin- g ceremony held on Friday, October 17. Mori was told about two hours before the event, and was overwhelmed with emotion that he was included. After the ground-breakin- g ceremony, a reception for all the Friends of the Library and the Mayor and his group was held at the Red Hills. Entertainment was provided by KHS and the clogging duo ofLindsey Willis and Joni Mar- surprise Kakamigahara Educational Exchange team. Mori signed an agreement for educational exchange at the State Capital. The agreement, which had been signed by Governor Leavitt, was formally exchanged between Mayor Mori and Lt. Governor Walker. Both Mori and Walker talked about how Utah and Kakamigahara can promote mutual exchanges in the field of education. The purposes of the agreement were: 1) an exchange of information on educational activities, particularly exchanges of teachers and students, 2) to promote young peoples awareness and knowledge about the beauty of nature and environmental protection, and 3) promote grass roots exchange of citizens. ss tin.
