Mayor Adams and the City Council, members of the library Board, and community members, Friends of the Library gath-ere- d for the celebration. Also present was Mayor Mori and from his delegation Kakamigahara, Japan. Mori was invited to participate the ground breaking ceremony because of his support in helping raise money for the library. It was quite a surprise for him as he knew nothing about it until that very afternoon. Councilman Roger Holland gave a history of the Kanab Library from the time it originated in a spare room with donated books to the present. The ground breaking ceremony was followed by a reception for everyone at the Red Hills. The Library Board would like to thank the people of Kanab and the surrounding areas, who supported all the different fund raisers put on by various clubs and organizations. A special thank you to Dr. Roberts for getting a grant from the State Centennial Committee. Plans are now ready to go out for bid and construction will begin in the Spring.
