Norm and Tim are two of nine winners of BLMs Making A Difference: National Volunteer Award. Norm and Tim Spitz will fly to Washington and meet the seven other national volunteer award winners for dinner that evening. The awards ceremony will take place at the Sumner Museum on April 15 and the winners will be taken on a VIP tour of Washington, D.C. that afternoon, returning home April 16. In March of 1995, Norm and Tim entered into a voluntary agreement with the BLM to help st&fT the Paria Contact Station, assist with wilderness and wilderness study area patrols, and conduct weekly maintenance of trailheads and campsites. BLM recreation planner Janaye Byergo said, Norm and Tim far exceeded what was expected of them as volunteers. With enthusiasm, they landscaped the Paria Contact Station, painted the entire Kanab BLM office, and developed a sign tracking system for the BLM. According to Byergo, the volunteers benefitted Kodachrome State Park by constructing a three-pankiosk as a co-o-p ef-el -- Jacob 7 Lake Campground (USFS), currently open without services; May 1 fees will be charged for water and services.
