Show Community Mr. Fox and the Easter eggs An Easter Story-F- or Kids Only By Barbara Pyles 'The Easter Bunny and her helpers had done a splendid job of painting the Easter eggs. The children in Happy Valley were going to have a wonderful Easter. However, there was one large problem. Easter Bunny wiggled her long ears. Well have to guard the eggs until its time to deliver them, she said. Fred Fox loves Easter eggs. One bunny helper had an idea. Lets hide the eggs in our secret place, she said. The Easter Bunny twitched her nose. What a wonderful idea, she said. The bunnies hid the eggs deep inside an enormous tree trunk while the littlest bunny watched. Fred Fox was hiding behind a bush laughing. Tm going to have a tasty feast, he said. Everyone was exhausted from all the hard work. Lets get some sleep, said Easter Bunny. The littlest bunny was happy in his cozy grass nest; but he couldnt sleep. In the moonlight, he hopped to the hiding place. He saw Fred Fox pitching eggs into a sack. Suddenly, Fred Fox snarled and grabbed the bunny. He stuffed the bunny into a bag with the Easter eggs. The bunny was scared, and his face was even whiter than usual. He looked at the littlest bunny. Youre my dessert, he said. Suddenly, Fred Foxs house was full of angry rabbits. Attack, screamed Easter Bunny. Im getting out of here!yelped Mr. Fox. Easter Bunny hopped on top of the fox! So did four other rabbits. Fred Fox tried his best to get away, but he couldnt move. Why are you so mean? asked Easter Bunny. 1 want to deliver Easter eggs, growled Fred Fox. Delivering Easter eggs is bunny work, shouted the bunnies. Its a tradition. Who made up such a silly tradition? asked Fred Fox. OK, OK, said Easter Bunny, I see what you mean. She talked We have work to do. Early Easter morning, Fred Fox and the bunnies carried baskets through the forest to the childrens homes. This is fun, said Fred Fox. whispered Easter Shhh, Bunny. Dont wake up the children. It was the first time a fox had ever delivered Easter baskets, but it wasnt the last.
