Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY APRILS, 1896 Opinion Dixie Speaks Thank you Karen and good luck We would like to honor and wish Karen Alvey the best of luck on her retirement. Karen opened the Kanab Job Service office, and has worked there for the past 21 years. To say that she has been good at her job, or exceedingly special to this community, would be an understatement. Karen Alvey is one of our area's finest natural resources. She's simply a God-give- n blesssing that doesn't come along often. Her unjudgemental and sweet treatment of people from all walks of life, is truly a unique and special characteristic. Knowing Karen, we are sure that she'll continue to contribute for many years. But we'd like to take this time to say that we appreciate and love you Karen, and you have left a wonderful and special mark on our community and our hearts. -- Letters to the Editor What is your opinion? The family of LaMar Judd Corry would like to thank the many people who served and comforted us at the passing of our husband, father and grand- father. The food, flowers, plants, messages of condolence and yes, the hugs and tears of compassion were and will continue to be in the Southern Utah News three times and in the Spectrum once. I thought the room would be crowded with concerned and interested citizens three people appeared. Councilman Holland, who has the assignment for water, spent many, many hours working with city engineer, Brent Gardner to present several alternatives. As a council we discussed them for in one way or another. When I transferred to Kanab from the Blanding Job Service over 10 years ago, I was nervous and apprehensive about working for a woman. My feelings soon vanished, when the moving van pulled into our driveway, help was there to unload and you practically had our boys in school and taken care of and I was off to being introduced to the fine people of the area. You are still caring and worrying about our personal well being and we do appreciate it. You have not only been my but my best friend. Through the years I have gained great respect for you. Social standing or circumstance had no meaning to you when it came to dealing with our customers. Eveiyone was all treated the same. If you couldnt help them, you knew someone who you and will miss you. Your Friend Peggy Palmer P.S. I want to extend an invita- tion to the community and friends to attend the open house for Karen on Friday, April 5 from 2 to 5 at the Red Hills Convention Center in Kanab.
