And the rule of thumb at my house when I was growing up was-i- f you got in trouble at school, you were going to get into twice as much at home. Id like to talk with you about your daughter, Mrs. Koontz. The boys dont find it amusing when she ties their shoelaces to- gether. Dont get me wrong. I liked my teachers, but I did have a healthy respect for them. Teachers knew much. They a lot about you-to- o knew more than your own parents did. It was intimidating to have two adult authorities at length. Even considering my angelic nature and perfect behavior, I still worried over what my parents and teacher could possibly find to talk about. And now Im the parent, and I must admit, school conferences are a power trip. A smart parent such as myself, can milk conferences. It parent-teache- r doesnt hurt to remind the kids about conferences often. You dont have to nag, of course, just remind them of the significance dis-cussingy- ou Hogan unders. Lets be honest, our worry is occasionally warranted. Theres probably a good reason the school has named the discipline room after your child.
