We had figured the As to win the big one, but Lance Jorgensen put it, Us Roadrunners forgot to read your paper last week. On Tuesday of this week the Roadrunners, behind the pitching of Jeff Busby beat the As 11-The Bulls own third place, but only one game ahead of the Tigers and Red Sox who are tied for fourth. The Orioles are setting on .500 and own sixth place. The Royals (.250), Astros (.125), Reds (.125) and winless Red Devils account for the rest of the League. The Midget A schedule has expired and a new one is being drafted which will pit the top four teams in one bracket and the bottom six in another for the balance of the season. Virleen has four this year, and thats only half the story. She is team captain and leading batter on the team. But Virleen is first to declare that she gets a lot of support from HERE COMES First Round Standings FIREES Lions 76ers showdown At press time the Lions and 76ers were both claiming a piece of first place but that was all settled last night (too late to be printed). The 76ers nudged the Platers out of first place in a 1 game last Wednesday and blasted the Elks 5 to stay in first place. Meanwhile the Lions also got to the Elks on Wednesday and then kept the As in the cellar by beating them 10-- 5 on Friday. The Platers came back on Friday to beat Jays As and nail down third place just two games out of first. The Elks couldnt afford to lose twice, but did. Now they are below .500 for the season and in fourth place. Jays As and Roys As are bringing up. the rear in that order. Things are shaping up in Midget B. FAMILY FUN! 6-- 7-- The unbeatable Mustangs bite the dust The Bearing Bobcats clawed the Mustangs 3 to knock the galloping Mustangs from the unbeaten ranks. They did with the superb pitching of Jeff Schultz and a little help (9 runs) from his teammates. The Elks kept pace by winning both games this week and are still tied with the Bobcats for second place. The 76ers own fourth place and are followed by the young Rookies who are 5 for the season. The Royals are in sixth place. Cellar honors this week are shared by the Spikers and Lions. Last week it was the Warriors but they won a game and gladly moved up. Best games coming up should be the 76ers vs. Bobcat game on Tuesday and 76ers vs. Rookies on Thursday. 9-- 4-- IT'S CHEVY AUTO SHOW TIME!
