The Salt Lake City postal facility, said Postmaster Jensen, will handle mail processing functions for local post offices around the clock, even when the smaller post offices are closed for the day. Postmaster Jensen urged that customers should no longer use the word city on mail addressed for local delivery, but they should spell out the name of the city. Construction will now begin on a consumers coop grocery store, which will be the first business for the development. The store should be completed about October. Other plans for the square include a Home Center, retail outlets, shops, a restaurant and medical building. Something needs to be done in the interest of the consumer as the dollar gets smaller every time we go said Sen. Frank to the store, Moss, special speaker at the groundbreaking ceremony. He said with the support of consumerism, hopefully inflation can be arrested. He also expressed concern that the farmer gets his fair share of profit. The cooperative grocery store will bring balance into the other outlets, Moss commented. The coop will be a yardstick to measure the big chains, he concluded. Pro-Ma- rt Jan M ! I County Commissioner Boyd Storey said he is happy to see a cooperative effort on the part of the people to help one another to bring better service. ' Roy City Manager A. Wayne Kimber and Doug Simpson from the Department of Agriculture expressed their hopes of success for the coop grocery store and other Shire Square businesses. I would like to see the gap between the farmers prices and the consumer prices diminish, Simpson stated. The farmers need better consideration. He said the city has not heard from persons who want to use the road and exit. Mayor Joseph Dawson pointed out 4750 South Street was planned to exit off the Roy High School parking lot. Because of this, no provisions, such as a cultesac, were constructed for vehicles to turn around at the end of the street. He further said the street is a problem to cars or trucks trying to turn around at the end of the street. Schenk told councilmen the garbage truck cant get down the street when the gate is closed. Snow plows have a hard time plowing the street and the fire department strongly opposes the closing off the streets. , There isnt that much traffic, Schenk said, to warrant closing off the street. Its an inconvenience to the whole city. Councilman Larkin Patterson said Roy High students use the area near the gate as a parking area, which could cause problems if a fire truck ever needed to get through to that street. Councilmen will ask for written reports and suggestions on the problem from all areas of the city which might have to deal with the closed gate, the police, fire, services. The gate was put across the parking lost exit at the request of some of the residents along 4750 South, who said the Roy High School traffic was dangerous on 4750 South because there are no sidewalks along that street. The Roy High School Booster Club memberships are now available at a cost of $5 per family or $3 for single mem- berships. Membership in the club includes opportunity to purchase season passes at $15 per adult per season. This pass allows holders to attend football, basketball, wrestling and all girls activities throughout the school year. Club memberships may be purchased from George Nichols, Ray Hipwell, or any of Ken Francis, Club the Booster officers, Jim McMann, president, Terry Misslin, vice president, and Shirley Jacobs, secretary-treasure- r, 731-224- 3, 825-492- 5; 825-781- 1; 825-472- 773-727- 3; 0.
