The East Rim sale (approximately eight to nine million board feet), has a final appeal date of August 18. There have been 40 plus small fires on the North Kaibab this year, mostly single tree lightning strikes, with the largest consuming four acres. Leonard explained that each district has a fire use plan and a condition checklist to determi ne preparedness levels. But while most fire restrictions have been lifted due to some good rai n showers, the area remains fairly dry. Were still far behind, said Leonard. The Commission approved a business license for Carls Handyman Services of Johnson Canyon, Carl T. Gurr Jr., proprietor. Commissioner Daniel Hulet wanted it noted that services totalling over $1000 must be done by a licensed contractor. The monthly magazine features upscale inns throughout the United States, as well as an area attractions highlight section. The article, written by Southern Utah News editor Dixie Brunner, features the plush bed and breakfast,' along with Kanab and area history. The commission was leery of granting something for a road for which the existing permit does not expire until 2018. There was a motion not to accept the Title V as amended.
