Show 3B Thursday, October THE GREEN SHEET 8, 1987 Homemakers Group Launches Year's Activities In Magna MAGNA The Oquirrh Chapter of the Utah Homemakers Assn launched fall activities last week with a lecture on How To Teach A Child" and a demonstration on cake decoration According to Maxine Hill Newton, advisor for the group, the organization is under the direction of Dr Sidnee D Spencer, community education coordinator, and has been set up to provide a learning program for young women that will enable each participant to acquire the skills necessary to expenence successful homemaking Active membeiship is open to any adult not enrolled in high school, and eligible membeis may be single or married, but must be concerned with improving the quality of homemaking and family life One honorarj membership ' will be gien each yeai when an in dividual has given outstanding ser vice in helping to advance the goals of the Utah Homemakei s Officers who will head the organization for the coming year include Karen Edwards president, Laura Thomas vice president, Susan Ethington hospitality, Wen dy Brauer, secretary, Linda Jessop, historian, Debby Crooks, reporter and Maxine H.ll Newton, advisor. Since the group has only been in existence since 1985 there are two past presidents, Julie Millward 1985-8and Jill Turner 1986 87 Membership amounts to 20 active members and anyone intei ested in joining can do so Dues are $4 a year A baby sitting service is also available for 50 cents pei child The gioup meets at the Magna Reciea-tioCenter on the fust Thuisday of the month at lp m Mrs Newton also noted that the year s agenda offers a wide variety 6 n of information for women including lectures, demonstrations and service projects.
