Show Thursday, October THE GREEN SHEET Dorothy DeBry Feted On Her 75 th Birthday Dorothy Mane Magera DeBry of Magna will be the guest of honor at a family dinner, hosted by her children, to commemorate her 75th birthday anniversary on October Missionaries Steven Crane 1975. She was born to Victor and Dora Bucholtz Magera m Yankton, South Dakota in 1912, and moved here as a small child. Her mother was born in the city of Daunsig on the German-Russia- n border, and her father remembered being able to see the Alps from his bedroom window m Austria. Victor Magera immigrated to the United States in 1872, and his wife came to this country in 1875. The youngest of 13 children (eight boys and five girls) Dorothy remembers playing chords on the Fred Nash Honored On Eightieth Birthday Family and friends of Fred Nash are being invited to an open house October 10th, from 4 00 to 7:00 p m. to celebrate his eightieth birthday. The event is being hosted by his children, Ladene, Carol, Fred, and Louis Lynn, and will be held at 4271 Park Street. Fred was born October 11, 1907 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Wilbur R. and Mane K. Nash He is the husband of Inez Nash. Matthew Roger Mecham Matthew Roger Mecham has accepted a call to fill an LDS mission in Bolivia, Cochabamba, and will enter the training center October 14 His farewell meeting will be held October 11 at 9 00 a m. in the Sandy 46th ward The future missionary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Mecham, and a 1986 graduate of Jordan high, where he was president of his early morning seminary class. He attended the University of Utah, and because of his advanced placement classes, has now completed two years of schooling. Matthew is a member of the Army Reserve and did his basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and his M O S training at Fort Jackson. South Carolina. He will take a two- - ear leave, thus reserve comextending his mitment to eight years, allowing him time to serve as a Mormon missionary Matthew is an Eagle Scout, and attended Boy's State in 1985 at Utah State University. Utah Lake Allie McCormick BURIED Jennie Ruth Watson Brown Mounteer, 59, of Kearns, Friday in Red wood Memorial Estates She died Seot Eagle Scouts m U piano to accompany her fathers band in Yankton, when they entertained for barn raisings and house warmings. A gifted musician, her father made a violin out of a cigar box, and he also made a zither which Dorothy remembers as sounding like music straight from heaven. Her two oldest brothers, Tony and Rudy, both served in World War I and World War II, with Rudy as a career Navy man being decorated for bravery by Admiral James Vincent Forrestal, who was the first secretary of defense. Dorothy married John Jacob DeBry m 1929 in California. His parents were Dutch immigrants from Holland. He died March 15, Together Dorothy and Jake had six children, two of whom are deceased. Their living progeny includes Charles (Bud) DeBry and Jerry DeBry, of West Valley City; Judy (Mrs. Kent) Jordison, of Sandy and Danny Debry of Kearns. When her children were all raised, Dorothy went back to school, and was the oldest member of her graduating class earning a certificate as a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). While the younger members of her class all chose to begin their careers working in the obstetrics division of the hospital, Dorothy chose working with the older people because she felt that this was the group that was the most neglected. Later she worked for Dr. J 0.
