Show Thursday, October THE GREEN SHEET 12 8, 1987 Both Magna Councils In Session Thursday DIET PULL OF THE FUTURE Relations Between Councils Discussed In other business, the council established a committee which will meet with Granite School District officials to hammer out a compromise concerning the walkway for students living southeast of Copperhills elementary school. It was closed in 1985 due to complaints by property owner, Brent Dixon. Dixon approached the council seeking a compromise so tensions in the neighborhood will be eased. by Dory Donner Green Sheet Staff Writer MAGNA. The Magna Area Council discussed developments in its relationship to the Community Council Thursday evening. Decisions were also made on a car wash proposed on 3500 South, lighting on 8400 West and a walkway for Copperhills elementary students. The council discussed the Sept. 30 United Assn, of Community meeting with the county commissioners. Councilwoman Marlene Norcross reported to the council on the address made to the commissioners at that meeting. She said the commissioners are sending confusing messages to Magna residents by recognizing two councils for planning and zoning matters. Applicants do not know which council to approach. Norcross should said the commissioners recognize the body which is set up in accordance to county regulations. Stand behind your ordinance, she reported telling the commissioners. In his presidents report, Steve Harris told the council about meeting with Kennecott officials to discuss the subsidy given to the Magna Community Council. He said the meeting was held to inform Kennecott the money was not being spent on the community as intended. The MCC turned down the request made by the Fourth of July Parade committee when it ran $40 over budget, Harris claimed, but it had enough to spend $400 on legal representation by former Gov. Calvin Rampton when confronting the county commission. He said the money should be spent on worthwhile community events. Harris stated the Area Council is not seeking the money for itself. He suggested it be given to Magna through a special committee comprised by the Chamber of Commerce members, and Area and Community council members. Don Babinchak, public affairs director for Kennecott, said Tuesday the company is looking into its approach for distributing the funding. The council also heard comment from resident George Buckalew concerning the Rainbo gas stations plans to construct a car wash at its 3500 South location. Buckalew said a wall divides the properties, but falls over frequently. He said he has had to put it up several times because Rainbo refused his requests that it the wall when the wind blows it over. Buckalew told the council he did not really oppose the car wash as long as a sturdier wall is erected. The council recommended approval of the car wash as long as Rainbo builds an eight-foo- t block wall. Lighting for 8400 West near the Sunset Vista mobile home park was also considered at the meeting. The council decided that lights should be placed at the parks two entrances. It will consider options for installing the fixtures, which Norcross said would be provided by Utah Dept, of Transportation. She said the county will pay for maintenance of the lights once they are installed. ct Over 1 Million People Already Using It To Lose Their Excess Weight And Inches While They Sleep. . . 2000 a Only a few short years ago, predictions were that by the year miracle diet pill would be developed that would allow overweight people to eat all the delicious as well as fattening foods they love to eat, yet still maintain a slim and youthful figure. This pill would use the bodies own natural fat burning capabilities to allow even the most ardent of overeaters to reduce down to and remain at their perfect weight for their entire lives. Ideally, this pill would be taken before one went to bed, the body would then automatically bum away its own excess body fat each and every night until the person reached his or her ideal body weight. Once they reached their perfect body weight, they would then take the pill only when needed. Yes, predictions of this miracle diet pill were not expected to come true at least until the year 2000. But now, a scientific breakthrough from a leading medical university conclusively proves there exists a pill today that when taken at night actually forces the body to bum its excess body fat away while the person taking them sleeps soundly in the peaceful quiet of their own bed. News of this remarkable medical breakthrough is already spreading like wildfire both here and abroad. Already, over a million people are using this scientific discovery to lose their excess weight and inches while they sleep; ordinary people such as Angela B. who lost 145 lbs. using this remarkable diet discovery and Stephen R. who writes I find that I eat what I want and still lose a pound a night! No side effects, no negatives. It really works. People all across the country report losses of over a pound of weight loss every night they take this remarkable diet breakthrough without any side effects except the natural good feeling of finally being able to lose their excess weight and inches as easily as they gained them. Head Start Will Return Community Council Told by Dory Donner Green Sheet Staff Writer MAGNA. The Community council discussed new businesses and programs, and old problems in its Thursday evening meeting. President Laura Jo McDermaid noted a Head Start program will be run for 34 families in the old community council building. I feel very excited the Head Start program is coming back to Magna. Its one of the most beneficial federal programs that a community can have, she said. McDermaid also discussed the claim presented to the county commissioners by the Area council that the newer council should receive sole recognition from the county. The project will focus on 35 acres in the old downtown area, Chong said. It will concentrate on increasing Magna's attraction as a enter- tainment and historic community. Chong noted tourists already visiting the valley could be drawn to Magnas mining and heritage. multi-cultur- Magna has what no other community on the west side can provide," he said, adding, They dont have the history to walk to, to point to, to touch. The Lunch With a Lawyer series sponsored by the Womens Resource Center at the University of Utah will resume Oct. 7. The lunch will be held at noon in 293 Olpin Union on the universitys campus. The free weekly series, which continued through Nov. 18, features local attorneys in informal discussions and question-answe- r sessions on topics ranging from child custody to estate planning. On Oct. 7, Louisa Baker, a legal services attorney, will discuss How to Find the Right Lawyer. We began the series in response to a large increase in calls from women needing legal assistance, said Dr. Beverly T. Purrington, coordinator of legal and educational programs at the center. The series is aimed at helping women, particularly those in transition, become knowledgeable consumers of legal services. from its map. Worse yet, West Valleys boundaries were shown as part of incorporated Salt Lake City. Last week, council members were informed that, in terms of recognizing West Valleys existence, the Utah Dept, of Transportation isnt doing much better than the phone company. Most freeway signs ignore West Valley. As a result, the citys Economic Development Division will attempt to persuade UDOT to identify West Valley on exit signs from and alternate Meanwhile, the council last week tried some persuasion of its own with U.S. West by passing unanimously a resolution requesting the company to recognize the existence of West Valley City. The resolution, which since has been mailed to U.S. West, noted that current maps leave people confused and blank. Barton, ALEC state chairman, said the 1987 ALEC meeting provided one of the most informative programs on legislative issues that I have ever attended. Scientists have known for years that adults who exercise a great deal produce more HGH (the human bodies own natural fat burning hormone) and become slim and healthy while people who dont exercise produce little HGH and become overweight and sluggish. This knowledge led researchers to investigate and ultimately develop this simple yet remarkable diet pill. You see the pituitary gland keeps producing HGH thoughout our entire lives. But when we reach adulthood it slows down the production to a low level until we as adults tell it to produce more HGH by doing strenuous exercise such as weight lifting, jogging, swimming, etc. But now a simple, safe and natural way has been discovered that stimulates the pituitary gland to produce HGH the way hard, strenuous exercise tells it to. By simply taking three Stimulex tablets at night the pituitary gland secretes additional HGH which bums up excess body fat at night while we sleep peacefully in bed. Demand for this remarkable diet pill has been so great that telephone lines are now being manned around the clock, seven days a week. You can now order a months supply of this remarkable diet breakthrough using your VISA or MASTERCARD by simply picking up your telephone and diaimg: LEGAL NOTICES MURRAY.
