At Valley JHS - Students To Show Christmas Feelings GRANGER. Christmas Feelings is the theme of a program to be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Valley junior high. The program will feature drama, band and choral groups, with Richard Cannaday directing the dramatic segments, Sam Fernley, instrumental numbers and Christine Tumblin vocal. Vocal numbers will include TAYLORSVILLE. Christmas On The Planet Earth will be presented at 7:30 tonight (Thursday) by second grade students at Robert Frost elementary. The program will tell the story of two Martians who observe unusual behavior on earth and come to investigate. During their journey, they meet with a red UFO and eight reindeer. Santas voice invites them to tour earth and see what is happening. They visit many countries and discover Christmas activities in every nation. During the program, slides of the various lands will be shown in the background as the children perform, said teacher Gloris Van Soolen. All the children will be in costume and each country will feature a narration by one of five elves, singing and dancing or other action. Included in the tour will be, France, with a family bringing in the Yule log, carolers and students singing Silent Night in the French language. England will feature carolers, Arcadia Choir Plans Three Appearances Shelter Will Benefit From BJHS Effort TAYLORSVILLE. The Arcadia elementary choir will sing at Valley Fair Mall at 4 p.m. today (Thursday.) The choir will also perform at Fashion Place Mall at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A Christmas program, with the theme Christmas Bells," will be presented at 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the choir includes school. The students from fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Helen Harris is directing the choir, with Glenda Nyman as accompanist. Selections will include I Hear Twas The Night Before Bells, Christmas and Ichabod Elf. BENNION. Student officers at Bennion junior high are sponsoring a series of projects to obtain funds for the St. Vincent shelter, 132 So. 300 East. We are trying to raise enough to buy them some pots and pans, or, if a student possible, a freezer, spokesman said. The events include a breakfast, to be served from 7 to 8:15 a.m. today (Thursday.) Tomorrow, the service club will deliver pies which were ordered earlier this week. Parents and friends are being vited to attend the concert. The children will sing the Wassail song and We Wish You A Merry Christmas, and will dance to the old traditional melody, Greensleeves. Germany and Austria will be portrayed with a family decorating a Christmas tree and the singing of 0 Tannenbaum in German. As Israel is featured, the children will dance and sing, in the native language, Shalom Aleichen." A dragon, featuring six boys with braided hair, will highlight a Chinese segment, with the students signing and playing instruments to represent the Chinese New Year. Students will also sing Pu Shr Hwan Ting, (Joy To The World) in Chinese. A Mexican hat dance will be performed, as will the breaking of a and singing of 0 in Spanish. Returning to the United States, the youngsters will sing and dance to Jingle Bell Rock. Carols and Christmas songs will be performed between scenes, the teacher noted, to give the children time for costume changes. About 120 children are participating in the program. We have had a lot of help from teachers and parents in learning the songs in the different languages, she said, adding that parents have also helped provide accompaniment, and done a lot of sewing on all those costumes. Teachers Corinne Foelberg and Cynthia Pearson wrote the script for the production and Belinda Ockey directed dance routines. Mrs. Van Soolen is unit leader for the second grade.
