These questions and others will be explored at the 7th annual University Professor' Forum today (Thursday) at the University of Utah. The Legislation and Personal Freedom forum, sponsored by the Liberal Eduation Program, is set for 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Panelists will include Elizabeth T. Dunning, aji attorney with Watkiss and Campbell and director of the legal panel for ACLU of Utah; W. Cole Durham Jr., Brigham Young University professor of law; Patrick Shea, general counsel for KUTV and chairman of the Utah Democratic Party; Rep. Olene Walker, assistant majorty whip of the Utah House of Representatives; and Hon. Michael D. Utah Supreme Zimmerman, Court justice. Grethe Ballif Peterson will moderate. Dr. Leslie P. Francis, who taught an undergraduate course on law as part of her 1984-8- 5 appointment as University Professor, organized the forum. Francis is an assistant professor of philosophy and an associate professor of law. The special rank of University Professor is awarded by the Liberal Education Council to professors who have distinguished themselves in undergraduate teaching and who have developed programs that will have a lasting impact on the quality of undergraduate education. Week's Focus: Art And The Young COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS. Celebrate the Festival of the Arts for the Young this week at Salt Lake County libraries, where demonstrations, exhibits and other activities are planned. When Pinchas Zukerman teams up with Joseph Silverstein and the Utah Symphony tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday in Symphony Hall, music lovers will get an earful. The 8 p.m. concerts, along with the concert tonight at Weber State College, will feature the Symphony performing Viola Concerto in G Major by Telemann, Stravinskys Symphony in Three Movements, and Harold in Italy for Viola and Orchestra by Berlioz. Zukerman, said a reviewer for The London Times, is without peer. Grammaphon calls him the best living viola player. Zukerman, who will perform in two of the three program selections, was a child prodigy whose teachers include Isaac Stern, Pablo Casals, and Ivan Galamian. In 1967 he won first prize in the 25th Leventritt International Competition. In addition to his solo career, Zukerman is also music director for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Annually nominated for a Grammym he received one in 1980 for Best Chamber Music. and in 1981 for Best Classical Performance - International Soloist with Orchestra. Joseph Silverstein, too, is a violinist - and has conducted more than 100 orchestras in the United States, Europe and Japan. Former concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, he was nominated for a Grammy for a The Four recording of Vivaldis Seasons, while with the Boston Symphony.
