Show rr rWrrr 7TT i THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, April . ? r f At the request of the Magna Community Council and the Magna Chamber of Commerce, the County Parks and Recreation Board has recommended that a beer ban be lifted at Copper Community park here. The ban was imposed on the park in August, 1979, but not at the requet of the council, it was clarified this week by council officers. The council, it was noted, had gone on record earlier as opposing such a move. Last month the subject surfaced again through a letter to the council from the Recreation Board. After a lengthy discussion which included input from the County Sheriffs Department, the council voted to have the ban removed. A week later a similar action was taken by the Magna Chamber, which supported the councils thinking on the subject. The beer ban is enforced in county-owne- d parks by city ordinance. They are Hunter, Hillsdale and Redwood in West Valley City; Midvalley and Copperview in Midvale; Riverview in Murray. The ban at Creekside and Evergreen parks came at the request of neighbors. According to the County Sheriffs office, nearly every group that reserved Copper park last year requested a waiver to allow beer. This w 18, 1985 County Responds To Magna Requests MAGNA. rr rTTT "rr resulted in a situation where people had obtained the waiver were allowed to consume the beverage, while others that had not reserved the park were restricted from doing who so. We believe that a blanket ban on all parks should be put into place or none at all," commented LaRee Pehrson, council president. It seem incongruous to allow some people to drink beer in the park, while at the same time denying others the right to do so. Winners Of Prizes Told TAYLORSVILLE.
