David Michael Tester, son of Michael V. and Karmen Tester, has received the Eagle Scout award. The lad also holds the Silver Moccasin, Arrow of Light, Duty to God and is a member of Order of the Arrow. A member of Unit 6664 with Cal Perry as leader, he earned t 23 merit badges, ' his favorite the skiing badge. A member of troop 942 with Rich Sweeney as scoutmaster, he earned 26 merit badges, his favo- being the rite water ski badge. Todd Louis Frost, troop 699, received the Eagle Scout award in a court of honor Feb. 22. The son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Jack Frost, 5530 Appian Way, Todd is 14 years old and attends the eighth grade at Bennion junior high. In junior high he received many awards, including Leader of Tomorrow and Freedom Leadership, as well as recognition in art and music. In addition he was awarded musician honors in the ninth grade and he enjoyed playing band. He has done well in the annual Science Fair contest where he has won two Stuck! Awards, one of which was a first place. He has also received special recognition from NASA and Division. Active in his church, he is president of the teachers quorum. For his Eagle service project, he went from house to house engraving valuables with identification numbers that would make them easy to identify if they were later stolen. hood Crime '$ Watch organiza- tion. He has served as a den chief, team captain, senior patrol leader and is presently a team leader. The Tester youth is a sophomore at Taylorsville high. His interests include drums, karate, debate and art. He is the first Eagle in his family. James GRANGER. Steven Paul James has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The son of Paul and Mary James, the Kearns high student is a member of troop 643, with Edward Brady as scoutmaster and Dennis Johnson as assistant. A camping enthusiast, he has earned 22 merit badges. For his Eagle service project, the j boy helped an eld-- ! erly woman in the area by painting and working in the yard, organizing other scouts in taking on the task. j ' Stowe GRANGER. Jason Stowe, son of Ronald V. and Sidney Stowe, has received the Eagle Scout award. A member of troop 691 with his father as scoutmaster, the lad earned 35 merit badges, his favorite being wilderness survival. For his service project, he made table tops for the Relief Society organization. An eighth grade student at Valley junior high, he also holds the Arrow of Light, Faith in God and On My Honor awards. He earned. all 15 activity badges as a Webelos scout. He has served as patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and is presently serving as junior assistant scoutmaster. He is the first Eagle in his family and has set a goal to earn all three palm awards possible after reaching the rank of Eagle.- Searle GRANGER. Scott Searle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. Searle, has received the Eagle Scout award. A member of troop 479, he has served as senior patrol leader under Wayne Magleby, a previous scoutmaster, and has been a den chief. He holds the Arrow of Light, On My Honor and Faith in God awards, and is currently second counselor in his deacon quorum. For his service project the lad ffj collected hub caps in the area, and gave away 250 to persons missing them. A student at Valley junior high, he enjoys archery, skiing and cooking. He is the second of five sons to receive the Eagle award. Seven Thefts Are Probed At Magna MAGNA. After a relatively quiet week during the first part of the month, crime actively increased last week, with 82 calls processed this week by the County Sheriffs Department. Officers investigated seven thefts, five instances of disturbing the peace, four alarm calls, two assaults, one burglary, one drunken driving, one minor in a tavern and o each in the runaway juvenile and traffic accident categories. |
