A host of student performers, some of them more than once, have been nominated for Green Sheet Performing Arts Awards. Performers in a musical and nonmusical production from each of the area schools Cottonwood, Cyprus, Granger, Granite, Kearns, Murray, Olympus and Taylorsville - are eligible for consideration. The awards will be presented during a 7:30 p.m. program at Taylorsville high on Wednesday, May 2. The procuts gram will feature from each of the productions. It will mark the 10th anniversary of the program. Nominees for best lead, supporting and character performances in a musical and lead and supporting performances in a nonmusical, as well as the Audience Appeal award, are being revealed here. Next week the Green Sheet will name the nominees for best productions, direction and Magic Moment. - five-minu- alphabetical order of the schools. Musical Leads Included in the nominees for female lead is Kristie D. Sanders of Cottonwood high for her performance as Reno Sweeny, the sultry singer in Anything Goes. Francine Faerber of Murray high was cited for her effort as Babe, the n factory worker in The Pajama Game. The title role In Hello Dolly at Olympus high earned a nomination for Wendy Brady as Dolly Gallagher Levi. A male lead nomination went to Chris Jones of Cyprus who played the suave Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun. Kearns highs Rodney Johnston was a standout as Billy Bigelow in the production of Carousel. Just a sophomore, Marty Hughes not only won the lead role, but also a nomination as Curly in Taylorsville highs Oklahoma!. pro-unio- and acted the role of Mrs. Malloy brilliantly in Hello Dolly. Male supporting nominees include Cottonwoods Christopher Wood for his proper British Sir Evelyn Oakleigh In Anything Goes. Cyprus highs Blain Campbell was a smooth and effective Charlie Davenport in Annie Get Your Gun. At Olympus high the judges were impressed by the performance of Bradley A. Stevens as Cornelius Hackl in Hello Dolly. Another Taylorsville sophomore who was outstanding was Phillip Arnold in his role as Will Parker in Oklahoma I. in The Importance of Being Earnest was outstanding. Dennis Nordfelt of Granger was excellent in the role of the newlywed Paul Bratter in Barefoot in the Park. Dan Cook of Murray high turned in an hilarious performance as the key role in The Servant of Two Masters. Nominated in tandem for their efforts that included a clever handling of scene changes in The Servant of Two Masters were Murray highs Ben Porter and Quinn Farley as waiters. Jim Walton of Taylorsville high entertained everyone with his ethnic portrayal of Donald in You Cant Take It With You. show was Daniel Howes, whose effort as one of the waiters caused several of the judges to make inquiry of the staff as to who he was.
