Howe pitched five innings against West giving up six hits before Chapman came on to start what turned out to be a remarkable day of pitching. After retiring the last West batter to record the save, Chapman joined his teammates for a crosstown bus ride and a game against Judge. Chapman pitched the entire game against the Bulldogs, giving up just four hits and striking out 12 in the victory. Coach Ron Rushtons Taylorsville Warriors continued their assault on fellow Region Two squads with three victories during the week, remaining unbeaten. The Warriors swatted Bingham 15-- 4 on Friday, crushed Alta 14-Monday and on Tuesday defeated West Jordan despite being held to just three hits. The league championship should be on the line today (Thursday) when the Warriors host Brighton at 3:15. Taylorsville travels to Hillcrest on Tuesday and on Wednesday will host Kearns. In Tuesdays outing, the Warriors did some nifty base running to force the Jaguars into making some errors while Wayne Arroyo was shutting the visitors down, aided by errorless ball afield. 4 n once-beate- A four-rufourth proved to be the difference in the contest as Kelly Davis walked, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored when Phil Evans laid down a perfect suicide bunt. Evans was safe when the throw to first was hobbled and he scored on a Craig Vargo base hit after advancing on a walk. A double steal and a couple of errors let Vargo and Jonny Walker score. In the fifth, Mike Littlewood g delivered a single after n Bats Heat Up a walk and a sacrifice. Arroyo struck out nine and walked only three while scattering four hits. In Mondays outing, a nine-ruthird enabled the Warriors to wrap up the game in five frames. Jimmy Orwm went the distance while his teammates pounded out 14 hits, including three by Davis. Littlewood led off with a homer, Davis doubled and stole third and scored on a double steal after a walk for a 0 Warrior lead Taylorsville tallied three more in the second. The Cougars of Kearns high finally broke out of their batting slump, powering to a 15-- 0 victory over Alta Friday for the teams first Region Two victory. The bats stayed warm Monday and Tuesday, but pitching gave out in the late innings and the Cougars lost heartbreakers to Hillcrest and Brighton.
