Utah Valloy A mmnssm LETTER- , a (From Page 6B, Col. 4) at Cyprus is beginning to pull together again and build Cyprus back to standards of high academic achievement and positive student body image. The only anchor still lowered is that belonging to community support. I did not expect to see all the disrespect from the community that I saw at the basketball game. Surely the parents realize a more appropriate place to handle a difference of opinion would be in the privacy of the coachs office or the principals office. The parents were SERVICE Tin a training ground at Cyprus, we expect the students to have socialization skills prior to their enrollment. We at Cyprus can't upgrade any aspect of your childs education without your assistance as a positive role model. Please pull up your anchor of apathy and become involved. Cyprus offers the community ways to join in and lead. Just give us a call. The negative habits we are trying to rid the Cyprus student body of must also be gotten rid of by the community. The task would be much easier through mutual involvement of Cyprus and the community. clinic are to register for an appointment by calling planning on at least one hour to complete the clinic appointment. A fee will be charged based on the annual household income, which includes social security, pensions and other retirement income. It is to be paid at the time of the appointment. Persons receiving less than $4,000 - year do not pay. Health officials said the criteria for cervical cancer screening include sexually active females under age 18, women 20 years of age and older who have not had a cervical cytologic smear within the past 12 months, women whose mother, sister, or grandmother had cancer of the cervix, uterus, ovaries or breast, women taking oral contraceptives or estrogen and women with I.U.D.s. In addition, women who have had hysterectomies due to cancer should have the test, as well as women who know or suspect that their mothers were given diethylstilbestrol (DES) to prevent bleeding during the first three months of preganancy. Also women who have had abnormal cervical cytologic smears and women who have had a change in their health status should plan to have the examination, it was noted. Screening Clinic Set All yelling at the very coach their children look up to as a leader and respect. A public show of ridicule for the very person the community demanded be hired is not a constructive role model for the students. Embarassment does not help build school pride. Due to the basketball game, I arrived late to the Christmas concert. I respectfully waited to open the auditorium door until the song in progress had ended. I snuck in and took the first empty seat I saw. Instead of receiving a relaxed evening of music, I experienced a rerun of the disrespect shown at the game. The audience of community patrons was extremely rude. Kids were climbing on the seats, using the row in front of them as foot stools and constantly talking. I saw no admonishment on the parents part. In fact, the parents were cohorts in the lack of respect. The woman behind me could have at least snapped her chewing gum in rhythm with the choir. I was staring at the performers and hearing the audience. The reason we had to cancell all student body assemblies became clear to me - the students were following the communitys lead of undisciplined public behavior. Social etiquette and respect for fellowmen starts at home. As a community, you need to be a role model and let your children know what is expected of them at social functions. You need to inform them on how to care for public property.
