Dear editor, WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, May pletely to the contrary, we became a city so we wouldnt be a dumping ground for apartments, or multi dwellings as some prefer to call them. Yet more than 1,000 of these units have been approved. When and where will it stop? Mayor Maloney and our City Council will vote on this issue May 26 at 6 p.m. Dont think this issue doesnt concern you, as the crime rate is so much higher in an RM area, which floods out onto the surrounding area. The overcrowded schools caused from this overbuilding affects your children and their education. Even their safety as they try walking down overcrowded halls and end up in a fight. Some students from K-- to ninth grades will have to be bused out of our Hunter area starting this fall. Your help is needed at this hearing and no one else is going to do it. . . . Darlyne Aguilar Hunter Thrifty shoppers read the Green Sheet classifieds! To place yours, Inasmuch as certain areas of WVC have apartment complexes, all areas of West Valley will have to have them, according to a recent statement by a member of WVC Planning and Zoning Commission. comEspecially since a plex was recently voted in over his objection, near his residence. The commission then voted 3 - 2 to allow Midwest to build a apartment complex at 2920 So. 6400 West on five acres of land that was supposed to be for single family homes on 7, lots. There is at present over 320 acres of undeveloped ground between 2700 South and 3100 South and 6400 to 5600 West. This could hold over 7,000 units of multidwellings in the future, if the domino theory takes place. Who would want to put in a single family dwelling by all those apartments. This vote was contrary to the recommendation of the residents who helped work on a master plan for that area, and contrary to the staff's recommendation. Are our planning officials at such an infantile level of thinking that they are not able to consider an areas needs and desires? Nowhere in all the campaigning to become a city was it stated that WVC had to have so many 100's of apartments in each district.
